Well I finally got off my (removed) and installed a remote oil cooler and the new 44MM center mount carb in my 71 VW Ghia today. Well I now know where all the Nazi's that escaped went to, they work for EMPI and work in their QC department!For those who do have not had the 'pleasure' of owning a classic VW, EMPI is (about) the only company that makes parts for the classics. Well, not only do most of the parts not line up, the machining is VERY poor, and the welds look like they were done by Helen Keller. No directions are EVER included with most of their products that have more than 4 parts. The directions that were included look like they were copies of a fax that were first washed in someone’s back pocket, and unless you have the ability to bend physics, are physically impossible. If anyone knows how to feed a 3 inch crimped solid cable end (throttle cable) down a 6 inch tube that has 2 X 45 degree bends in it, I sure would like to know. So now I have this big (removed) jug on top of my engine, and guess what, that’s right, I CANT CLOSE MY DECK LID! In order to make it fit, I either need to buy another $40 K&N Air filter that is 2 inches shorter thus dicking up the ventura above the carb, which causes the internal pressure to drop, causing oil to leak out of ALL sorts of places, or raise my deck lid 2 inches.Now on to the oil cooler.....The remote oil cooler is so damn big that it does not fit anywhere except in the passenger compartment, which might be OK given that the heating system is more holistic than practical, except.... thats right , the kit only came with about 2 ft of crap (removed) hose. Which is not nearly enough to feed to a remote oil cooler AND the remote spin on oil filter and from what I have heard will most likely blow out in the next 3K miles causing my engine to blow its life fluids all over the earth like EXXON.The sad thing is, I bought the car for 1800, and I have at least 4K in aftermarket parts. Should have dropped the coin into the vibe! It is too bad the Ghia is damn sexy!

Well I got it started today, OMFG the new carb makes it feel like it is going to explode. It was orgasmic.... then the oil line blew off and it dumped almost half of its oil in about 3 secs.So, I'm waiting to get everything together then I'll post new pics.
