Do your homework before you get that tattoo!

Post by ColonelPanic »

We all know about things translated from English to other languages, but from the other side, we sure can butcher up a language ourselves! http://www.hanzismatter.com/Heard an interview on NPR today with the guy who runs this site, he was talking about people with tattoos that are incorrect, and he even made a few references to the crap ricers put on their cars.

god, if you don't speak the language, why would you get it on your skin? i have a tattoo that is in spanish, but i also came up with it myself because i speak some spanish. i hate all these dingalings with chinese tattoos and they have no clue if they really mean what they are supposed to.

any time you're going to get words in *any* language tattooed on yourself. check, double check, and triple check the spelling. then have somebody else do it. also, make sure the artist uses a template so that you can re-check it after they've put it into whatever script they're going to use. the last thing i'd like to hear while sitting in that chair getting worked on is, "wait, it's i before e when?"

I once had a freind who bought a set of earings that really said "Gullible American" but were advertised as saying "Peace". I laughed so hard.
