Just got our $297 power bill. $221 was gas... Looks like I'm splitting some wood next week...There should be NO reason for natural gas prices to be so high. Our local power company raised prices 48% last month. My bill went up 100% over the same time last year. Same therms used (within 10)...Maybe it's new math, but somebody needs to tell me where the other 50ish percent went!!! F**ckers!Oh yeah, and we live in SC...I feel bad for you folks in the NE!!

[QUOTE=merckx56].There should be NO reason for natural gas prices to be so high. /QUOTE]One of the big reasons natural gas prices have spiked is the large number of new gas fired electrical generation stations built in the past several years. They are the easyist type of electrical production plant to get licensed, can be built quickly and require low staffing levels. Unfortunatly it has created too much of a demand on our natural gas infastructure. We need more new coal and nuclear plants to decrease the cost/demand on gas, but that takes long term planning and investing, something in very short supply nowdays.Becareful chopping wood, so you don't add injury to insult.
