Best mufflers for the Vibe

Post by Flip-Side »

I would like to know the Brand and Type of mufflers you GenVibers have/want so I can give myself a good selection before making my decision. I have always been partial to Flowmaster, and the 60 series sounds pretty good. Any sound clips as reference would be cool as well.

I believe that the TRD pipe is the best. It is very quiet during normal driving but really screams when you pounce on the gas. After installing, I noticed an increase in the way my car drives! Nothing like a Japanese motor!Abyss Vibe GT: moon & tunes, security, six-disk changer, Injen CAI, TRD muffler, freedom design strut brace (on order), Skunk2 coilovers (on order).

I have the Borla exhaust and it sounds real throaty, not that normal ricer sound you normally hear, it also has more pickup. It screams at high rpm's and I also have a CAI and this made a big sound and pickup difference as well
03, Abyss monotone GT, 6 disk changer, moon and tunes, Cargo mat/nets, power package, side airbags, AEM Short Ram Intake, Borla exhaust , 35% tint all around, F1 strut tower brace, debadged, 17" Excel rims w/ federal ss595 tires.

I think putting a Borla cat-back on will be the first mod for my base Vibe...

I don't want headaches going down the road on long trips, but I want it loud enough at high rpms to deliver a nice growl. I said GROWL, and not BUZZ. I hate the mad hornet sound, and love the low growl of a v8, so I'm hoping to compromise. I know that a 4 cyl. will never sound like an 8 cyl., but that is just kind of a reference to the sound I'm aiming for.

Flowmaster 60 series. Provides great low end torque and a very performance sound exhaust.http://www.flowmastermufflers.com

TRD is good but Borla is more bang for the buck.

quote:I would get rid of the entire exhaust. i do not want a mustang sounding sound, just a nice flowing sound, not hollow or throaty, a nice progessive sound, no like a damn weed whip!!!!!!!!!Thats my whole point. But when I scrap the old catalytic converters (2 of them), I'm putting on 1 high flow cat to keep it legal. When I put a muffler on the now free flowing exhaust, it may be too loud or hollow for my liking. My thought was to add a glasspack (holly Purple Horny) to mellow the tone before getting to my performance muffler. I am leaning towards the flowmaster now, so if anyone thinks they can sway my decision, by all means lets hear it!
