been thinking about making me a new enclosure for my sub. i will replace that soonn too. now i want a new box. what kind of wood is used to make enclosures?
MDF (medium density fiberboard) is most common. 3/4" minimum thickness, 1.125" optimal for more beefy enclosures, and double layer 3/4" laminated together for insane heavy enclosures. If you have access to Rangerboard, it is significantly better. And if you have the tools, the time and the money, Gibralter or Iten composites are awesome!

ya im about to attempt the same thing, i picked up a 4foot by 8 foot sheet of 3/4" thick mdf at home depot, it was about 19bucks so not bad. I already made a hard cargo cover out of it and should have enough left over for a box. Good luck
