05 Vibe Cruise Install Complete

Post by 05VIBE »

Just FYII purchaced Rostra part# 250-1771 it was a simple plug and play install. took a grand total of about 25 minutes. Works flawlessly, it even activates the Cruise light in the dash.Note: This will only work on the Drive-By-Wire vibe models.

Nice! ... and the 25 minute install time is impressive! Do you have any pics of the final outcome?

I would like to have seen that kit. After what I thought was much research, I ended up ordering GM#88969201. That part was replaced by GM#88974274, which I ended up getting for $35. I used a dremel to notch out the lower/backside of the steering wheel cover. I used two small nuts/bolts to attach the switch to the existing holes in the steering wheel. It works just like in the manual, cruise light on the dash, etc. My Vibe is a 2005 Base with the drive by wire. I think a kit like you have would be the way to go. No hacking on the steering wheel cover, no looking for bolts/nuts to fit.

I will get some pic's ASAP.It is a simple install all you do is disconnect the battery, remove the 2 screws that hold in the airbag in and pull it out, then I used a hole saw to cut a hole in the steering wheel cover for the switch to go through. Screw the switch in place (screws come in kit) and hook up the connector. Thats it.The kit comes with the screws needed to attach it to the steering wheel. I could not find the OEM Gm Part# or i may have went that route, this one cost me $125 But I have Cruise now!!
