Need help quick! How to go back to stock?!?

Post by damronjr »

Well, my air-bags and my Hotchkis STB with Camber Kit aren't getting along so well and I need to get somewhat back to stock quick. I don't even know if I have the parts laying around somewhere, but I just need to know if anyone has a breakdown of the front suspension set-up and how everything goes together so I can try to get this fixed. I don't even want to drive it the way it is right now, so urgency is kind of important right now! basically, I need to know what parts and how the top of the front struts mounts to the body of the car so I can take the bar off.

I'm leaving the bags on (figured that would be a mistaken perception!), but I need to get the top of the struts back to stock so I can take the STB off, that's all. I just need to know what parts to look for and how it all hooks up. It's been so long since I put that on I forgot!

Well, I think I found them, and there'sonly 2 parts per side, the mountinng piece underneath and the top bracket part for the screws (found the caps as well for the main strut bolt). My bro-in-law is going to help me with this when he gets off of work at 4. Wish us luck!

If you need some documents of the front assembly I have 5 pages. Also, if you run in to a problem you can give me a call. I have to bowl tonight, but will be around later on....Rich

Well, I'm headed over to do this. Hopefully we don't run into any problems as I didn't get any further info beyond the parts I found. Guess you left before I got on and didn't IM me a phone #! Wish me luck!

Fixed, took numerous hours, but fixed. One bolt from the Hotchkis wouldn't come off, we even welded another bolt to it, nothing. Hours, pipe wrench, and biscrips later, it finally came free. The only thing I may have forgotten was a dust shield for the bottom of the stock mount, but there's another plate there that should work well enough. Got invited to join a car club, Team CalistreetR San Diego. Apparently I have the best car in the club already! They have a Cobalt SS (not supercharged ), couple of SRT-4's, some Sunfires, Tiburons, and a bunch of others. Sponsored by ARD performance, too!
