AEM Power Pulleys?

Post by Petrucci914 »

Hello,I've heard reports that underdrive pulleys and such can cause the oil pump to blow. Is that the case for all pulleys? These AEM pulleys seem safer because they don't underdrive as much and rely on the lower weight. Thanks!

More often then not, the folks using Unorthodox Racing UP's have had issues. AEM I believe, do not make a crank pully sothere has been no issues with them. At least I haven't read about any. With the UR full set, some people haven't had any problems, and others say the replaced the stock oil pump with an aftermarket and have had no issues.

I've only heard of the GT's having problems with UR crank pulleys, nothing from base Vibes.I had one for 6 months and no problems. I'll sell it to ya cheap! I don't need it any more since I got boosted (it lowers my psi). Still using the AEM alternator pulley and loving it! P.S. Nice to see another 'local' on the forum.

So you have an AEM power pulley that you'll sell? For how much? Is it just one replacement pulley? Let me know!PS. I make visits to Appleton about 3 times a month. I'd like to see your Vibe sometime.

Since the vibe's original crank pully has a vibration dampener on it, any replacements must also. Just a heads up I found from MO website too. From the reports I read over there - no pullies on my ride.

AEM's site says the dampener needs not to be removed. I think the tru-power kit is only for the alternator/power steering.

There wasn't any dampner on my crank pulley when I installed a UR pulley. Just a 3lbs pulley. Maybe the GT is different? The AEM kit is the alternator pulley for the base vibe and I think also a water pump pulley for the GT.
