Hi All, Just got a new vibe in Aug 05, and since then it seems every so often the car will not start, I let it turn for 5 sec or so then release the key and the second time she starts. It only happens every so often and can never anticipate it happening. The dealer is lost as what to do and I am tired if him looking at my girlfriend as she is a girl and doesnt know how to start a car.Hope anyone can give me some ideas I am new to this forum but have been on J-body for years, hope this forum is as fun as that one. Nice to meet you's all.
Welcome to GenVibe! I'm assuming your car does turn over those times when it doesn't start.1) Have them check to make sure the vacuum lines are all good.2) Have them check the VSV valve. It may get stuck once and a while.3) Check the battery. Stock Vibe batteries are known to be bad.I'm sure others will chime in with other ideas. We have a great bunch of people on here. We like fun! Enjoy your stay!

First of all, welcome to Genvibe. Second, this sounds like a familiar problem and I'll refer you to this thread for more information. Mase posted a link in this thread to a TSB that somewhat relates to your issue. This is a newer thread, but there are a few others on the site as well.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=20249Anyway, as BlueCrush said, enjoy your stay!
Thanks for your help guysAt least I have something to work with now. I am assuming that this problem can be resolved.I will try to post some pics ASAP to officialy introduce myself and the car(s).P.S Blue Crush like the car, ours is the same but not done up yet, girlfriend wont let me dress it up but at least I can do it with the Z.
I have been having the same problem with mine for the last year. Last summer the fuel pump went on it, but it was replaced under warantee. The problem went away for awhile, but just started showing up again.I have contacted pontiac and the dealer many times. They are taking it back in on Monday to check it out. You should contact Pontiac and tell them about your problem. They will open a ticket number on it and they will help the service techinicians solve the problem. The more of us that complain to Pontiac, the faster they will come out with a TSB. Pontiac will not recognize the TSB that Toyota has put out for this problem. On a side note, there are TSBs out on other GM vehicles for this same problem.Keep me posted on what happens. I will do the same.
Hope this helps! Just came from the dealer, who let me know that there is a new TSB (12/12/05) on the hot soak starting issue for the Vibe. Because of this, I'm getting the PCM in my '05 replaced complements of GM.The TSB number is #05-06-04-074. It's been frustrating to see the TSB for the Matrix but not the Vibe. Hurray!
Mods: 04 center armrest, 04 Matrix AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Electrochromatic rear view mirror w/compass, GM hood protector, Ventvisors on doors and moonroof, one-touch close moonroof. added 12v outlet in console, Goodyear TripleTred tires, Sirius satellite radio.

I had a new 1977 Buick Estate Wagon that manh time just would not start period. GM could never figure it out. Ate up Ignition coils and starter motors. Finally an independent replaced the plug wires and that seemed to be the solution. Defective plug wires from the gitgo. It still used a starter motor a year even after that.

well, myself and my wife had a few issues starting the car too. my vibe seems to be very sensative to the clutch switch. the pedal has to be ALL the way in to start. it truly became a problem when i had aftermarket pedals. they had screws holding them on. the screws hitting the carpet made it difficult even further to start. my carpet eventually gave in and had a hole in it.
That's great to hear... I'm going to take mine back to the dealer (third time for that very same problem) and give them the TSB number and tell them I want it fixed, now!Thanx for the info!!!

I had my PCM replaced last week and it is still doing the same problem. I am waiting to hear from the dealer to see what we can do. Anyone else have this problem?
