2006 radio head units - mp3 capability, gps?

I was looking at the 2006 vibe on pontiac's web site, and noticed that the new stere unit has MP3 capability:Sound system, ETR AM/FM stereo with CD player and MP3 playback, includes Radio Data System (RDS), digital clock, programmable equalizer, TheftLock and (U65) Sound system feature, 7-speakers, Monsoon $440.00Does anybody know what other types of stereos are available fo the 2006, and if they're compatible with the 2004 moons and tunes? I would love to have MP3, satellite radio, and navigation capability all in one head unit.

The 2006 1 CD head units are MP3 capable. The 6CD units are the same as they have been since 2003, it appears. The navigation system is no longer available for the 2006 model year it seems. 2004 and up 1CD (not 6CD) head units are XM ready, which means they will work with the seperate factory XM receiver.The 2006 head units should be compatible with your 2004 M&Ts. The only way to get MP3, XM, & nav, however, is to go aftermarket.

Only way you'll get all that is with a Pioneer AVIC-N2 or AVIC-D1. They cost anywhere from $1,000 to $1,700.I think they discontinued offering the factory nav system.You'd be better off with the pioneer. Just get the basic audio system and build your own system if you really want to go with all that.

if you wait a few months. (tax return time)pioneer will be realising a new 2 din headunit. the AVIC Z1. from what i read, it's 10x more capable.all the things you want plus more.nothing stock will give you all the things you want.i don't think that even the cadillacs' NAV system are MP3 capable.

wow, that avic z1 sounds really nice, but i'm sure it will cost a pretty penny when it comes out.hmm, i went on crutchfield's site and saw the AVIC-D1. it looks like it has everything i want - gps navigation, mp3 CDs, and xm/sirius compatible. it says that it does not fit my 2004 vibe. is that true? i'd love to get this unit if it would fit my 2004 moons/tunes.

See if they can tell you what the problem with putting it in the Vibe is, and possible work-arounds. They're usually pretty good about stuff like that.

You know what sucks? On my new G6 GTP I have XM and cd, and 200 Watt Moonsoon radio but it dosent take MP3's! RIP OFF!

The AVIC-D1 will fit, you still need the fit-kit to fill in the space around the unit it'll leave in the dash, but it'll fit fine.

what is the part number for the mp3 player on the new 06 1cd head unit? will this work to replace my 05 6cd?

dont 6cd changers go with the moons and toons? if so i dont think a single would work because of its built in amp. you would have to go aftermarket for mp3. I am interested in the 06 1cd HU that plays mp3's!!

So there's a reasonable chance it doesn't. Might try pinging Sunny or another 06'er to see if they can verify that.
