Clutch squealling noise...?

Post by Andrew-4ce »

Hi, I've searched but there are so many clutch noise posts it's like a needle in a haystack...My issue is a noise like a squeal that matches the rpm of the motor. It is worse if it's cold out. It's only in first gear, and only from a stop and only when letting the clutch peddle out. It goes away once the clutch is fully let out. There is no riding of the clutch other than the bit that is required to get the car to move in first from a stop. I know nothing about clutches, but if I had to describe what the noise would be I'd say something like two discs scrapping together as the clutch engages. Once the plates are moving the same speed the noise is gone. I've been driving stands for 15 years, never had to replace a clutch (last two cars I put 200k+ on), but I did buy the car second hand. It's got 95,000 km on it, 2003 base.Does this mean it's wore out? a feature like a break squeal? there's no slipping though.Any ideas? Thanks for any help!Andrew
