Alpine 9805 Problems? HELP??

Post by Keith77 »

I installed an Alpine 9805 CD Player in my 2004 Vibe. Now about a year and a half later my radio sound is cutting in and out. Sometimes for lond periods of time, sometimes short. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so, what did they do to solve it. It's very agrivating. If i have to buy a new deck i will, but was wondering if it can be fixed. Thanks

If the radio is staying powered on and only the sound cuts in and out, something is shorting out in the speakers. Either you have a bad speaker, or the speaker wiring behind the deck is messed up and speaker wires are touching together.Pull out the deck and inspect your wiring, make sure nothing is loose and/or uninsulated. Next, get a digital multimeter and test all the speakers to make sure they're all at 4 Ohms. (If you don't have Moon & Tunes) Do this AT THE HARNESS. If you just do it at the speakers, you won't know if the wiring is bad.

i agree. check you wiring splices behind the radio. mine have come loose before. if you have the moons and tunes. i would also add to check on the amp below the pass seat. make sure those harness aren't coming loose.

I had this problem with an aftermarket radio in one of my cars. Turns out there was a wire coming off of the harness labeled "mute", which when grounded, muted the radio. This wire wasn't connected at the time, and apparently it was touching a ground somewhere. I just pulled the wire out of the harness, since I had no intention of using it, and the problem was solved.
