Sincere Thanks to GenVibe for helping with a heartwrenching decision

Post by rebbierae »

Ok, so there's a lot of sarcasm in the title, but still.Months ago I got the "Vibe" overlays from Ryan in reflective orange, but did not order the Pontiac arrow in orange, because I thought the red arrow IS Pontiac. But I still wondered if I should do it so they all matched, and couldn't decide. I read in a thread that eventually our red arrows would turn pink anyway, so I decided to order the orange arrows--my boyfriend put them on my car for me today, AND pointed out that my back arrow is ALREADY starting to turn pink...anyway, they look fabulous! I'm so glad I decided to order them! Next up is the 3rd brake light...we didn't have time at lunch to do that too. I forgot to order some genvibe.com stickers so next payday that will probably be on the list, as well as anything else I can think of to turn orange. So thanks to Gen Vibe for being such a helpful, caring community.

To overlay or not to overlay? That is the question. I am glad you were able to come to a decision. I would like to see pics of the car.

Cool. Somehow I feel responsible for this though, since I think it was me who always brings up how these things fade to that god awful pink and that Pontiac needs to smack whoever supplies them with these crappy things... lol!Let's see some pics!

What's really sad is that although I had noticed mine was pink about a year after I got the car, I dismissed it as normal because everyone else's at the Ohio meet in 2004 was pink too... Happy overlaying It's addictive...lol

I have proof around somewhere, I shall post it.

Yes, the schnoz is ok... Just on the right side of the (removed) is where the problem lies.

Perhaps it is the light from HID head lights that fades them.

i was trying to think why mine never seemed to have that problem but i just remembered that i took the rear emblems off and put a dark red reflective overlay on the front arrow... so it wasn't a problem for me.

Pink??? They turn pink? What kind of crap are we putting on our Vibes? I'm gonna have to go snaggle one now and put it out in the sun. I've got an '02 Grand Prix and my Ponti badges are still as red as they were three years ago.

Yep they turn pink within about a year of indirect exposure to the sun...if you sit it out in direct exposure it will probably do it sooner.

Stick one on the side of the building facing east and it should be pink in no time. That's what I know worked for sure on mine, the place I have to park faces east.I've seen this on my '03, Kari's '03, a friend's '03 that he used to own, numerous brand spankin' new '03-'05 models that were actually still sitting on the dealer's lots, plenty of Vibes out there on the road of various vintages, and of course, on the 2005 Mary Kay Vibe. I can't remember seeing any on the Vibes at various meets I've been to, but Kari has noticed this. Here's a pic of hers.. It's good business for Grafxwerks though, and Ryan is very deserving of it. This is one of those things that very few probably really even notice.

lol Yup, it's exactly what you guys said--we were putting them on the other day and the b/f noticed that the back one was already turning pink, so I'm glad we made the change. The front one is fine, but the back was turning a lovely shade of fuschia. Or would it be magenta...I'll try and post some pics but my car is not NEARLY as exciting as some people's here, and if I do, I'm sure to get the "Hey look--it's completely stock!!" comments too!

I replaced mine before the OH meet with one from a Montana that is a different material, hopefully it WON'T fade like the original did.....the front one doesn't matter really, not enough paint left around it to even see it.Congrats on getting overlaid Rebbie!!!
