I am SO mad. Today when washing my car i noticed something black on my front passenger lower side bumber. Figuring it was bug or debris I tryed scrubbing it off. It wasn't coming of so I ran my fingernail along it and reaslized that there was actually a paint chip missing. I was so mad seeing that the car is only two months old and already a decent size chip. After the car had time to dry I went back out to inspect the area. When looking really close I noticed some other odd color/streaking-- touch up paint. I believe there was probably touch up paint on my black area as well and flaked off. Unfortunately in the two months I have had the car I didn't notice this-- because there was no need, it wasn't visible until the paint came off!!!! The dealer I purchased the car from didn't have the vehicle in stock and got it from another dealer. I was at the dealership when my car arrived so I know it wasn't done there. I doubt its even worth harassing the other dealer because they'll deny it! Totally sucks but oh well. Anywho, I need some tips on how to make that area look as good as possible.. e.g. touch up paint, tecnique, etc. Or any input on how to make the dealer fix it.... Thanks, Chris
well, since you've had the car for 2 months... they will claim you should've seen it at delivery. they won't fess up to it. however. if it isn't in the direct front of the vihicle you can try and claim warranty. if it's in the direct path of traffic.. they will say it's road debri and don't owe you anything.to answer your question. get the car re-painted. this will solve alot of issues with the paint.
Someone could get a stone chip 2 miles from the dlr after someone takes delivery. The dlr just cannot be responsible for those. Even if like you think the dlr touched up something before delivery, right, the dlr will deny it. I would get a bottle of touch up paint, you will certainly need it in the future. I would go to the dlr for this. It will be more than a local auto store but once you have the correct paint, you can than go to the auto store once that bottle runs out. If you get a chip down to the metal, you will need a bottle of primer touch up as well. The rear area I would have the dlr at least look at it... Maybe something happened when it was painted from the factory.
I bought mine off of the lot at a Pontiac Dealership. He said it was a Demo and gave me a great deal, told me that there weren't any damages, just a few miles on the clock. I didn't notice any damages or scratches though I did take a look. There also weren't any disclosures from the dealer. When I got home and walked around the car, I found a huge 4x6 inch area on the passenger side corner of the bumper, covered with touch-up paint and very unprofessionally done. I called the dealer right away, and brought it back the next day. They said that they didn't know about it and that it wasn't their responsibility. I started out trying to be nice, went on to even threatening to report them.... They didn't even try to help me out. Told me to take my car and leave, get a lawyer, do whatever....Also told me that if I had purchased a 'real' Pontiac, they might be nicer. I'm still pissed of at them but learning to live with it.
