Any advice for future owner (winter tires, rust proofing, hood deflector)

Post by Archieluis »

I'm currently in the process of buying a brand new 2006 Vibe and I would like to get some tips from actual vibe owners.- Should I look for any rust proofing treatment? If yes, what type / where?- What is the best deal on winter tires and wheels in Montreal?- What is the best place to buy & install a hood deflector?- Any other tips before I buy my car? Thanks

Hi Archieluis, congrats on your (maybe) new ride!1-For the rust proofing, I would look for a place that offer a writhen warranty, preferably 10 years since the GM is (I think) 5 years on perforation. I had it done at Vitro-Plus in Ste-Agathe and it would be around 350$. I would also get it done at a "franchise" place so if one close down, the others have to honour the warranty.2-Since I live in Ste-Adele, I can't recommend a place in MTL, I don't know them but usually the biggest, the lowest the price. Just call a few and make sure you compare the same brand of tires and get quotes. I personally like the Nokian.3-Usually I get those accessories at the dealer. I think the fitment is the best. Again, call and compare price.4-ENJOY your soon to be new ride!!!

I preach only for Toyo, they have made their proof, but are a little more expensive. It will be my 3rd winter with my Garith HT, I have nothing bad to say. The best is to go to 2-3 Unipneus. They will ask you where you're driving the most (city or highway), and recommand 1 or 2 tires. by going to 2 or 3, you will have different comments, so you should choose the one that will come each time (probably Toyo )

oh, and if you bring the tires to your dealer before you get your car, they will put it directly on the car before it goes on the trial drive, so you'll be able to save the original tire for spring or to sell them as brand new and buy real tires...
