Would this head unit fit? i've been getting conflicting stories about the head unit size in an 04 base vibe with standard radio. Looked here and still confused about it. Is it a double din or din and a half? I measured the space and it's smaller than my firend's car who really is a double din.I have a bead on a really cheap system and i don't want to get if it is not going to fit. I'm deciding on this or the Pioneer Avic- N2. I want o lean with te eclipse because it would give a cleaner look to the car but i don't want to do any major customizing to get it to fit.

the size is unconfirmed. lol i know a 2 din radio fits without any cutting. things is that some of the 2 din radios leave a small gap on the sides. a few people here have installed the pioneer 2 din system, and some have installed the AVIC-d1. double dins. i prefer the avic-d1 myself. if you're going that size route. it should fit fine.

problem with the d-1 is you can't override the internal speed sensor. I want to watch my movies while i'm on the road

i know exactly what you mean. i used to have a dvd set up in another car. instead of watching movies, i watched music videos while i drove. THAT was HOT!! i burned them myself. everything from mariah carey to hot boys.i know on ebay, they have those dvd lock over ride info for sale. i've seen one guy giving it away for 1 dollar. if i had it, i'd be inclined to get it. i know, it's just info. but what's a dollar??

i was going with the avic because it's stupid simple to mod out. all you have to do is ground the wire that is supposed to go to your e-brake that tells the system your car is in park. I'll wind up going with the avic n-1 because it has video inputs and i can run my xbox through to it.

post some pictures when you are done. i to plan on going with the avic d-1. once i figure out when i'm selling my house. hopefully next monday. so the d-1 doesn't have video inputs?? iwasn't aware of this.

honestly i don't konw about it, but i know for a fact that the n1 does so i'm going to have to go ahead with that. Let me know if it is easy to get around the speed sensor. Right now i'm still in planing stages. I need to mod out my xbox first but that's going to be an adventure i don't need to go into too much detail over here.

xbox in the vibe huh, cool.i once had a dream cast in a riviera.make sure you have a good alarm before you start putting all these electronics in your ride. i just bought my alarm. will put in the avic after i do the alarm. it would be a shame to loose all that cheese.

well, today. i bought the info sold on ebay for the lockout bypass. soo simple!!!paid .99$. i feel stupid saying that though. 3either way, alegedly, the nav functions can all be used while moving doing it. you don't have to open the unit neither. aside from grounding the ebrake wire... which has been done for a few years now, the mod is simple.i still don't have the avic d-1. but i guess now, i made a comitment.all the reviews are great except for the moving lockout.

Be arfeul being caught driving with a movie on, cops in this area will give you a $250 dollar ticket for having it on. They call it driver distraction.

i don't care much for watching a movie in a car. i really just want to be able to use the NAV functions while moving.
