Help! New springs won't fit properly.

Post by NUBlackshirts »

I bought a set of Vogtland Sport Springs for my '04 Vibe. The part number references to the correct springs on Vogtland's site. However, the shop just called and said the front springs won't fit. Apparently the boot on the top won't go over the new spring properly. Says it is just a bit too small and it collapses when you try to put it back together. It looks like the top of the new spring is a bit bigger in diameter than the stock spring. You guys have any ideas on this?

After looking at a pic of the front strut assembly, I now see what my service guy is talking about. The top of the front spring has a boot that fits inside the spring. It flares out at the top and the spring rests on it. It looks like the new springs are a bit too wide and the boot compresses down into the spring. I called Vogtland and PureMotorsports, but only got answeing machines. If you guys have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm curious about this too. My Tein H-techs didn't fit into the insulator perfectly either (had and extra 90 deg of winding), but it didn't compress it like yours.

Working on it. Pure Motorsports has been really good so far in trying to get this sorted out. The springs are supposed to be 5.15" at the top and both of mine are at least 5.25". They look like they will fit until you put some pressure on them, then the top of the boot slides into the spring on one side or the other. I sent the measurements to PureMS and hope to hear from then tomorrow (Monday).
