Quote, originally posted by The Car Connection »GM Selling Off Subaru Stake; Saab 9-6X DumpedGeneral Motors said this morning that it will sell off its 20-percent stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru. GM took a 20-percent stake in Fuji in 2000 and since then, has tried to leverage the resources of the company to help along some of its own car brands, particularly Saab. (Saab's 9-2X is a rebadged version of the Subaru WRX.) But other vehicle collaborations never made it off the drawing boards, and as a result, GM will sell off its stake in pieces. Toyota will take 8.7 percent of the existing GM shares, according to a release, with the remainder to be sold off to other investors. GM will net about $315 million for the sale to Toyota. GM adds that with the dissolution of the joint venture, it will focus on high-growth markets in Asia, presumably China. While the existing Saab 9-2X will continue for an undetermined time, GM says that the future crossover planned for Saab based on the Subaru B9 Tribeca has been cancelled. GM is expected instead to spin off a new Saab crossover from a planned Opel model derived from the concept Antara GTC.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Darn! You know, I was actually looking forward to seeing the 9-6. The Tribeca is growing on me, but I was hoping that the 9-6 might improve the few things about the Tribeca I don't like.
*gasp* what does this mean? NO MO SAAB-A-ROOO? Gee, please, say it ain't so. I've only seen ONE of those things, and that was in NY last spring. And this be it... Is that the thing they are talking about?I didn't know about the Tribeca thing... There is much rejoicing here at least that said project has been flushed down the toilet. But that means nothing coming from me, as I refuse to buy something of that nature. And besides that, I believe those cost upwards of 1.75-2x what I can afford anyway. But hey, I just don't like looking at them. That front end, *barf* Maybe that would change on this particular Saabaru, I dunno.

That look slike a 9-2x. I love Saabs, and if I could, I would probably be driving one right now! The 9-7x is awesome, the 9-3x conv I drove was probably one of my personal favorites from the GM Auto Show in Motion. For some reason I didn't like the 9-2x that much (felt weaker for some reason, but then we didn't have enough room to open them up either) and the 9-5x wagon i drove was pretty cool. Overall I think Saab is awesome!
