hands free in the Vibe

my new cell phone has a great speaker phone that i like to use while driving...hands free! However, i currently keep the phone in one of the cup holders which works well at amplifying the speaker further, but the person on the other end says they can hear themselves too much (echo effect).So i was wondering, has anybody found an un-repulsive holder for cell phones that mounts nicely and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb on the dash?for reference, i have this phone:http://www.nokia.ca/english/products/60 ... .aspthanks!

In my experience, the Nokia speakerphone option isn't that good in a car. I tried it once and I couldn't even carry on a real conversation. It was a bunch of "What was that?" "What did you say?" "Dude, get me off speaker phone." "Huh??"I looked, it didn't seem like the phone had bluetooth, but the bluetooth hands free kits are really nice.

i'm not a big fan of the bluetooth earpieces...i've had no problems using speakerphone while holding this phone in my hand or having it sit on my lap (nothing like carrying on a conversation with your lap! ), and even in the cup holder which amplified the speaker nicely...too nicely as the caller could also hear themselves a little too much!.i was thinking of something along the lines of the cup holder for iPod/mp3 players that would be able to hold this cell phone. Such that i could put my phone there while driving, and if anybody called i could easily see caller id and press answer to carry on a conversation via the speakerphone if required.

I actually did see one of those at Target. It was a nice little holder that fit in the cup holder. Your Nokia phone may be a better model than my old one. It looks to be newer, and they probably improved the quality.

I just ordered a set-up from http://www.gbxdirect.com. Here are the three parts that I ordered: http://www.gbxdirect.com/store...=Vibeh ... ok.phpwith this set-up I will be able to unclick it from my belt clip and click it into the car mount with ease and vise-versa back to the belt clip.I will post pics after it is installed.

I have Bluetooth in my GTO. The phone rings, the music mutes, i speak and listen over the stock stereo, and when the call is done I push a button to hang up. I am spoiled now, and I am definately putting this in the Vibe. i will post when complete.

you guys gave me a good idea. any of you who have aftermarket stereos. if you have a aux input. create a mini jack wire to rca l/r. just select aux whenever you have a a call. ofcourse, if you have speaker phone. you won't need to do anything else. my phone has speaker phone, but it's soo low. they can hear me, but i can't them.sounds easy.

I don't think the aux mini plug idea will work, becuase there's no mic involved, and the phone is used to input of both the earpiece *and* the mic through that mini jack. I don't know if you split it and had a separate mic, if it would work or not. It's an option I thought about, but was pretty sure it probably wouldn't work right.

If you have a local PepBoys or radioShack...They have cell p[hone holders for cars. I have one that clips onto the air vents. No screws or taping needed. I cannot post a picture, but I have a sprint CellPhone with a great speakerphone built right into my celll phone and it works great.

thanks for the ideas!the gbxdirect gave me some ideas...it might double as an MP3 holder if the cable is in the glovebox!

I've been using a bluetooth and I love the thing. People must think I'm talking to myself though

Just got the Sony HCB 30 from ebay for 55$ shipped, this bluetooth adapter will wire up to the factory radio. This is the same setup I have in my GTO. I will get my web site updated(been down for weeks due to isp problems) when I am done. I am excited, this is the only way to go. It will automaticly mute the stock radio and the phone call will be transmitted over the radio! You can wear the phone or keep it werever and as long as it is in the car(or close outside) it will work in this way.
