Carbon Fiber Interior Overlays Installed (w/pics)

Post by BlueCrush »

I bought this set off eBay from customauto4x4 a few months ago and finally installed it today. It is real black carbon fiber and the cost is $153.99 shipped within the US only.It is a 26 piece set but there were 3 pieces that are not applicable for the Vibe and 2 pieces I didn't use because it looked better with them offHere is the eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...photoThey have many other colors as well. Just click on the seller's eBay store and do a search for either "vibe" or "matrix".I took out the faux BCF steering wheel cover and handbrake cover. They looked pretty cheesy next to the real stuff.Driver's Side Door:Passenger's Side Door:Both Rear Doors:Rear Cup Holders:Center Console:Left Side Dash:Center Dash:Center Dash & Console:Entire Dash:(note key hole piece as well)Interior Shot: (note key hole piece as well)

I really like it and you did a great job; however, I always liked the "molded" dash overlays better as they conform in shape over the whole area. Your center dash area is not completely covered. This is not a criticism, as it really looks great and the "molded: dash overlay cost about twice as much.

that looks really good. how difficult was the install? are the pieces contoured enough that there's not much guess work in lining them up?

hey blue, good job! personally, i'm not a fan of the whole carbon fibre thing, but i think you did a good job....now if they did a molded dash kit in like a chrome.....that i'd go for...but like i said....personally i'm not a fan of the CF, but it looks good!

I installed several of those kits (the molded kits have mostly flat pieces) and they are very easy to install with the proper "prepping") (cleaning the area with some alcohol) and making sure you get them aligned properly. Once they are on it is almost impossible to slide or move them into another positiom) Patience is the key and about an hour or so and presto...a new look!!

Hey guys.........im not a vibe owner, but the owner of Custom Auto 4x4 & Franklin County Customs on E-bay. I would like to say Blue Crush...awesome install job. Im glad to see you were happy with the carbon fiber kit. I was looking at how people found my auctions, so I thought since you helped me by posting a link, I would do what I could for your Vibe' Mates. For those of you interested in 3D kits, look here -> http://search.stores.ebay.com/...ofpZ0These kits are 100x better with "vibe" inlaid on a couple peices, and luckily Blue Crush, you got a good kit from our other manufacturer, we are actually dropping them as a manufacturer and going soley with Sherwood & Wood View Dash as they really engineer their products well. For any of you that do purchase a kit from me.....deduct 10% when you check out!Use key word "Genvibe" so I know its you!Good job all, if their is anything I can do for your group, like group buys etc, please let me know!Jay HicksCA4 FCCfx

Thanks Jay and everyone else. It took about 1 hour to do and yes you need to be patient. I placed each piece on the area to see the best way to get to there and to see the exact placement of each one. I kept them all in the cardboard frames on my roof in the Sun for about a half hour before starting. They were nice and warm and very flexible. After peeling off the backing if you just barely touch a corner ot it to the spot it is going to go on you will have the ability to unstick it to get it exact. It was actually pretty fun to do and watch the dash change with each piece installed. I am assuming the manufacturer you dropped is MIMOUSA. Their CF eyelids sucked and as you know I returned them. The new manufacturer's product look to be very nice. Are the new products flexible or more of a hard type of material since it is formed to the dash?

I LOVE how it looks in the center of the dash with the a/c controls and shifter. I wish I could order just those pieces (my paint by the a/c controls is fading Mr.Jay is there anyway to buy just the center pieces on the dash board or no?

Hey guys & gals. I will take a look and see if I can get someone to make JUST the center peices. Blue Crush, your right MIMOusa was my old vendor. I would have to spend every monday dealing with problems with either the way its cut, or peices not fitting. I dont like to sell junk, especailly when I 100% try to stand behind my manufacturers. But I do have a 5 peice 3D molded kit, that is available in a couple finishs. I could sell it for 151.00 and that includes freight to US or Canada. Attached is the spec.Spec Sheet-> http://www.sherwooddash.com/shadowsheets/7109.gifWeb page for manufacturer-> http://www.sherwooddash.com/Pa...=7109
