Greetings all.It is time to consider installing a remote starter.I do not require an alarm system but if the best option is an integrated one then so be it.I need it to be a two-way system so that I know if starting has occured and I need the best range possible in the hopes of overcoming obstacles between my location and the car. I would like to have as many auxilary outputs as possible to control future projects like windows up/down, hatch pop, and other accessories.I will be installing this myself so it has to be available for sale to non-installers.My Vibe is an automatic so manual transmission support is not necessary but would be nice to have in case I ever move this to another vehicle.Anybody?TIA.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations.I am leaning towards the Compustar 2WSS simply because of the great range.Realistically the distances are not that far but the signal has to get around some objects and so the stronger the signal the more likely it will reach the target. The problem is, where do you BUY these things? I will do the install myself, just have to find the system. Only ones I have found so far are on eBay and I suspect no warranty will be supported by the manufacturer for a self-installed unit bought from an eBay retailer even if that retailer states they are an authorized dealer.
from most everyone i know, go compustar. plus, firstech, the company who originally developed them, was based out of anchorage until they sold the business. i've not met anyone that hasn't been happy with the product. just make sure you get a reputable company to install it!
I'm about as reputable an installer as I am going to find but I am not a company. Just cannot bring myself to part with several hundred extra dollars to have someone else install it when I can do it myself in an afternoon and do a better job than most installers would.Guess I may have to eBay it tonight and hopefully have it in time for next weekend to install. With luck, I might try doing a heated mirror conversion this weekend provided one of the local glass shops has the Burco Redi Heat elements in stock. I'm pretty sure Compustar requires their alarms to be installed by a certified Compustar dealer in order for you to keep the lifetime warranty valid. When I got mine done, I got the 2W900FM-AS for $369 CDN installed, plus tax. That's not a bad deal at all, and the lifetime warranty is still applicable. The company Compustar is great for helping you find a dealer close to you. Just email them and ask....they'll give you their top 3 in your area. Then you can price shop and get the best deal!Good luck!
