Convex Mirror--To put or not to put ? If Yes -Ideal Location?

Post by dennisdrive »

Hi i was just wondering how many of our members have the small convex mirror installed on the exterior mirror( the one which decreases the blind spot ) .Are they effective ? I am planning on putting them on .What would be the ideal location ? Top corner or bottom corner or inbetween ? Will the ones which you get in Walmart suffice ?

I have one!!! man i dont own a car with out one, they are one of the best mirrors to have! i got mine at checker, but it was a pretty cheap one so wal mart should have the samet hing. i put it on the bottom right corner, before i stuck it on i had my dad walk around in the blind spot and got the perfect fit, i dont know how you can drive with out one.

That's a good idea to get one. This car scared the heck out of me when I first took it out on the interstate, those blind spots can easily hide an Excursion. I never bothered to get one though.

I assume you are talking about the driver's side mirror, they aren't a bad idea actually, but I set my driver's mirror a little farther out, so that as a vehicle just leaves the visual of the mirror, the front end should come into view just outside your window. This only works if you have good peripheral vision though.

I'm sure those convex aids do help though....

I have put them on all of my vehicles on both outside mirrors. PepBoys sells them and they are adjustable. They are very easy to install (sticky back) and are a must as far as I am concerned. (about $4.00 for a dual set)

I have mine on the lower outside corners of the mirrors. Make sure you get GLASS ones. Those cheap coated plastic ones will fade and crack in less than a year.

Hey guys, found a nifty product related to this. It's a combination of the wide angle add-on mirror and mirror turn signals.Kinda pricey but it's a nice combination of two add-ons.http://www.kwmuth.com/products/kits/200-0056.htm
