Vibe GT Acceleration

Post by Josh »

I was wondering how the "seat of the pants" acceleration is on everyones stock GT.I test drove a 03 GT before i bought mine and remembered that at about 6K RPM it felt like nitrous. My 05 GT accelerates briskly all the way past 6K RPM, alot different from the 03 I test drove. How does yours feel?

There were significant differences between the 03 and 05 models. They raised the lift point on the tach, making it harder to hit. Also the engine had added emissions equipment dropping the horsepower from 180 to 170.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

yes, the 03 GT hits LIFT and it's a nice kick in the pants! the tech who did the inspection on mine after i traded it in said he took it for a drive and floored it all over the place. said it was fun and surprisingly FAST!

Definitely quicker than the times you could get from a standstill and you could keep an 03 singing through shifts. I would think that the 05 would give a pretty good kick at 6700rpm also and you do have more torque in the lower RPM than a stock 03 so the transition may be softer.

in order for you to reall feel lift you need to stomp on that gas pedal, If you're just kind of holding the gas down you won't feel it as much or in some cases not at all. put the pedal on the floor and don't be affraid to hit that rev limiter it wo't hurt the engine at all. You'll feel it. As for the reduced horsepower, I dunno about the '05s, but the '04s have the same HP as the '03s, its been dyno proven several times, In fact my '04 with intake and exhaust dynoed higher that an '03 with intake headers and exhaust. I would imagine it the same as the '05, just lift engagement is different on all 3 years
