Just looking for some advice regarding my audio system in my Vibe. Right now I have the stock radio and 4 stock speakers. I am wondering what is the best way to improve on this system. Ideally I would like to leave the stock deck in the car. Is this feasable. I was pondering adding an amp to the stock deck and maybe adding some infinity speakers. Will this do the trick. Or does that stock deck really need to be tossed to see any improvement on the sound? I would appreciate any comment or ideas you guys can throw my way. BTW...this forum is awesome. Just bought a 05 Vibe last week.
New speakers and an amp should help out a lot. It is kind of tricky to wire an aftermarket amp to the stock HU, but it can be done! Changing out the HU is always better, but not necessary if you don't want to.

I used one of these to add an amp to the stock H/U.It works great. I am running Polk db6500's front and rear, powered by a Rockford Fosgate Punch 4004.You will see a difference in sound quality. The speakers made a huge difference. With the amp, I can listen to it quite loud without distortion. The only drawback I noticed is that the stock H/U seems to have a bit of a bass boost at low volumes, but not enough to be objectionable.
I also wanted to keep the stock HU but wanted to improve the sound a little. After doing some checking around I replaced my stock speakers with Polk DB650s. They definitely improved the sound without much of a hassle. Circuit city has a regular price of $99 each. They advertised buy one get one 1/2 off. When I got to the store the rep said there was a special sale of 4 for $150 so I went for it.
Speakers and amp are the best way to go if you don't want boom boom in the zoom zoom (oh wai its not a mazda) If you keep factory head unit with aftermarket speakers an amp is a must or they will sound poor and blow. Pending on the style of music you listen to sony has some 75w amps that are great for pushing your door speakers.

I have some nice Polk speakers that I put in almost three years ago, but just a few weeks ago one of the midranges blew. This may have been caused by using the stock amp to power the speakers. I am now looking for an amp and I found Circuit City has on their website a Sony 4 channel amp on sale with free shipping for only $127.49. Here's a link: http://www.circuitcity.com/rps...#tabsAnyone have one? I know Sony makes some good electronics, but I've heard their car audio isn't the greatest quality. I did read some good reviews on this amp though. Anyone have some good input? Thanks,
