Okay this is my first how-to so bear with me please, and if anyone notices someting that I messed up on please let me know about it. Okay, we are going to be installing an Air/fuel Ratio Gauge, an Oil pressure gauge and a voltage gauge.First, follow ragingfish's instructions on how to remove the main dash(noting the all the airbag safety precautions)
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=9977Then once that is done, I decide to hook up the oil pressure sender. It is sticking out right above your oil filter. It's pretty had to get out but just be patient and use a wrench to screw her out. Watch out though, oil leaks out of it when you pull it out but it's not much. Disconnect the wire going to the stock sender if you already havn't, it will not be used by the new sender so just zip tie it to a nearby cable.Screw in the sender that came with your oil pressure gauge. This one was particually hard to do with me, but I got it on there Next, I hooked up the wire to the end of the sender and ran it close to the grommet (The rubber thing with wire going into it) on the firewall (see pic) and taped it nearby to use for later. Then I hooked up the Air/fuel ratio gauge wire by splicing into the blue wire coming from the sensor on your exhaust manifold. (the one on the left is the sensor and the right one is the hook up for the ECU) So next, you poke a hole in the grommet from the inside with a screw driver and tape the wires from the Air/Fuel sensor and the oil pressure sender to it and gently pull it through the grommet. This may take you a few times, I know it took me about 20minutes. Also you really have to use strong tape. So now that the sensors are hooked up and everyone's happy, the fun part begins.okay, now where the silver dash trim on your left was on your dash, look for the power mirror hook-up. Look for a solid gray wire on the mirror hook-up, splice it and this is your power source for your gauges (this is what I used to hook up my 12v power to my gauges but you could use anything you can get 12v out of.) Next, find a suitable ground for your gauges. I used a big metal bar that ran through the dash, You can see it by looking where the power mirror and dimmer switch used to be. Just hook up a ground wire to ground all of your gauges on. So now that that is all out of the way, your ready for the gauges. weither your installing a pillar, or pods on the dash, this step should be realitively easy. Just put your gauges where they go (dash, pillar) and hook the wire you pulled through the grommet to the corresponding gauge (ex. oil pressure sender wire to the wire on the gauge for the sender. A/f sensor wire to a/f sensor wire on gauge.) Now that thats done, hook all of your gauges 12v power wires together and attach them to your 12v hot wire that you rigged from your 12v power source. Then combine all of your ground wires and attach them to your ground wire and make sure you will have enough room for the wires with your dash and you should be good. BTW I didn't say anything about the voltage gauge because all it needs is a power source and a ground wire. So yea, your basically done now, put your dash back together and enjoy.
