Another weekend project...painted dash trim

Post by vibedrvr04 »

Here are some pics of my weekend project. I decided that the interior needed some color, so out came the painting supplies and presto...custom dash trim Lemme know what ya think.http://i3.photobucket.com/albu...h.jpgh ... Personally I like it (that's all that matters I guess) but I'd like your input. Positive or Negative

Very Nice! It's got me thinking...I noticed the care you took not to "overspray" the writting "Max AC" next to the AC button.

looks nice. interesting that you taped off the button hole areas. any particular reason for that?

Looks great except for the taped-off areas. I don't mean to be harsh! It would just look better all blue...I'm not talking about the A/C controls, because I know that's a problem, which is why I elected to hand-paint new A/C control symbols on mine. Pics are on my cardomain page, or I can post a few if you like.EDIT: After looking at the pics again, I wanted to say two things...1) the paint looks great, and 2) I'm thinking you didn't remove the buttons from plastic panels, but rather left them connected and masked them off?

I dunno it looks a bit odd to me . But then remember I also painted my strut brace yellow, so what the heck do I know.

OK, I'm gonna just do a mass reply, so here it goes.....for Namron: i didn't spray the "MAX A/C" , i did that by handfor Toasted7: i didn't get a chance to snap some in-progress pics. the base color was sprayed, but all the detail work was done by hand. Just do what ya feel comfortable doing for trdvibe: If you mean the areas around the Heat/Air control knobs, it was because i wanted to keep them lit up at night ~ on a related idea, i'll be doing something with that area sometime soon ~ if you meant around the A/C and Max controls up top, i dunno...just wanted something a bit differentfor Psychobroker: Yes i did remove ALL the buttons from the panels...looked like my dash had been through a chopshop with them all removed the silver areas around the buttons were actually painted by hand with a silver paint...i'll need to do another coat this weekend but it'll look good i thinkand thanks everyone for the comments!

no, i'm with psychobroker on this. it would look better without the areas painted in silver. but it's yours so you do what you want. lol. people thought i was nuts when i had mine apart after day 2 painting the interior. i think i was one of the firsts to do this...?? i can't remember. then i had mine professionally done and boy what a difference that made! of course, it also matched my leather interior much better!

Don't get me wrong, I still think it would look better all blue. I guess my initial reaction is what most people will think...that you missed a few spots

Hey bro, whatever YOU like is all that counts! I know I fetched some negative feedback for my painted A/C icons. Didn't matter to me because I liked it, and to the best of my knowledge, still have the only vibe with painted A/C icons

How easy was it to take those panels off and put them back on. I have been wanting to do this, just a different color. Hints or tips for someone else that is going it undertake this project in the near future?

Wow that looks really cool! I like the trim work you did around the center console - letting the silver show around the buttons and vents - nice touch.
