After-market engine immobilizer

Has anyone had any experience with installing an after-market immobilizer on the Vibe (or any other car for that matter)?I found a site (http://www.12voltshop.com/cainterrupt.asp) that seems to be selling basic immobilizer systems for fairly reasonable prices. I was thinking of originally going with a full-fledged 2-way Viper alarm system, but the price is pretty steep. So that's what led me to thinking about after-market immobilizers. Is it better bang for buck?Thanks in advance!

I dont know how much i can say as ive never had one... but if someone really wants to steal your car im sure they could find a way. second, i bought a car alarm for one of my old cars but never had it installed and one of the features was the thing where it wouldnt turn th engine on if something blah blah i cant remember but it was like what your talking about, and ive heard bad things about if it doesnt work or it breaks you need your car towed and the computer reset or some crazy thing, so if was ever going to get a alarm installed i was gonna opt not to get that feature installed. thats my own opinion but im curious to see others experiences.

No idea where you read/heard about that.If your immobilizer fails or has a problem, you just need to pull the fuse for it. It automatically fails to let the engine work so you can start it.All those things do is 'cut' the starter wire coming from the ignition. When it's active, it doesn't allow current to pass through. If it has a problem and isn't allowing you to start the car, pull the fuse for the immobilizer (which is hopefully hidden somewhere) and it will allow you to start.I've never heard of getting a computer reset for an aftermarket system such as those posted up.
