I have read on here several times that you should always take your signal to an aftermarket amp from the head unit's output, but today a guy at the local stereo shop told me that since the output from the m&t amp is hotter, i should use that instead to go to a JL 500/1. What is his logic behind that? On the other hand, i have some good news, that being that with the slash series from JL, they have a built in line level converter, so there is no need for an inline one. i can simply cut off one end of the rca's, splice it to the speaker wire(still not sure whether to use output from HU or from m&t amp), run it into the amp, and select high voltage input. i was stoked, since i had planned on dropping anywhere from 20-50 bucks on one. other than that, i got a kicker 1000W 4g amp install kit, should have everything i need. its been a pretty good day, just wish the shop dude hadnt confused me with his talk of running my JL off the m&t amp output. let me know if he is completely bogus, or has a point, cause im ready to throw this sound into my car.
so did you run from the amp output that goes to the sub alone? he told me to splice both rca's to that one output, and run it into the JL. and in this case, should i also run a four channel amp from the high output side of the m&t amp, or from the HU outs? im assuming ill want to use a line level converter for those, and use the HU outs... but im not for sure. let me know
when i hooked up my amp to my stock head unit i used a LOC. connected it to the head unit not the m&t amp. i have been told it doesn't matter what u hook it up to hope i could help

I spliced into the speaker wires coming out of the amp. I don't know the pin numbers at theconnector but the 4 wires are yellow, black, white and red. Those wires went into a line converter then to the sub's amp. I took a picture I will post a pic tonight. here is the wiring diagram for the Moon and tunes without the factory subwoofer. http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...o.gif
