My wife doesn't appreciate my Vibe-dar (Vibe radar)

Post by gargoyle »

When we're driving around, I am keenly aware of other Vibes on the road... I have developed "radar" for spotting them and very rarely does one evade my sight. My wife, on the other hand, doesn't seem to notice them even if we pull right up next to another one at a light. So to "help" her overcome this, I feel compelled to point out every single one to her... "there's a Vibe!".... "look, another one!".... "oh, did you see that Vibe going the other way four lanes over?".... "there, There, THERE! A Vibe just turned the corner... did ya see it?".... "OOooohhh! a Pontiac dealership... look! look! look! VIBES! VIBES! and more beautiful VIBES!" I do this for her sake because she seems deficient in spotting them. But then she has the nerve to tell me that I'm an idiot and I'm obsessing over a "car". Can you believe that?!

I must have a pretty decent boyfriend. Although he does roll his eyes a bit when I say "It's ABYSS, not BLACK", he's finally getting into the spirit a bit . The other night he and his best friend and I went to our local store to get some stuff, and I saw a girl just getting out of a lava two-tone, on the other side of the parking lot. I said, "Does she look like the type that would be into Genvibe.com?" and Jim said maybe. So we're wandering around the store and Jim sees her, so he says to me, so she can hear, "There she is, why don't you ask her?" I'm all embarassed so I tried to walk off but she says what? so he tells her we saw her car in the lot and that she should check out genvibe.com. So we start talking about our cars and she asks if I have a Vibe too and I said yes, so she asks what year and all, and then says "Don't you LOVE it?" I said "Why yes I DO!" and proceeded to tell her how many helpful great people there are on genvibe.com. She thought her car was just RED, but I told her "nooooo, it's lava!" She thought that was pretty cool! She kept going on about "how the dashboard is so cool--it just lights up! And the seats all fold down! And I can plug in my curling iron..." Anyway, we stood there for about 5 minutes in the middle of the store talking about how cool our Vibes are, and she said she'd have to check out the site!

Too funny! I have your sickness as well with lots of cars! My wife just rolls her eyes at me, she has learned to live with my car obsession and technical mouth! But I have learned to live with her cats and cat stories! So there! I do not care if the cat pooped today! I say everyone poops! (she does not say that but you know where I am going)

HAHAH, man this is funny. Back a couple yrs ago i would always point out taurus sho's or mazda 6's to my ex. now if i ever see her she tells me she see's them all the time. But now with the vibe, its the only car i point out to all my friends.....that think im a vibe-nerd now. atleast i can admit i have a addiction to vibe.

I gave up approaching Vibers a long time ago because of the weird looks I got from them. Used to hang out at Tim Hortons with the pals on friday nights and I'd talk to Vibe owners who passed through, one had a GM Vibe body appearance package on hers but she could have cared less about her car other then that. Kinda the cold shoulder... now I get fusion aztek owners working at Costo gas pumps talking to me about the car lol...

We've discussed this before, but when I see another Vibe I try to catch their eye and smile or wave, but around here it's a bunch of older people who are just driving a car. I was in the lane next to one the other day but the driver lady was about 50 years old, sitting stick straight in the seat with her hands precisely in the 10 and 2 position, and wouldn't even look over, so no Vibe Love there. Oh well, I guess that's why I come here...

it's habitual. i still can spot a vibe from a good distance away and think to myself how many there are, yet not too many on the boards up here. it'a a real shame too. oh well..

I've been able to keep myself from pointing out every Vibe I see lately, and I think my wife appreciates it. The other day, I saw a Vibe a head of me, a matrix to my left, and another matrix come up on my right, wife acted like it was no big deal... oh well... I think the same goes for any car I've had. The moment you buy one, you suddenly realize how many there are in your area.

I mostly see the same ones on my commute. Saw one today on the freeway that I haven't seen before. An 03/04 Lava red monotone with the license plate "EBAYWIZ"
