disabling DRL

Post by jefframin »

Hi folks.I just picked up my new Vibe last night. First thing I need to do is disable theDRL system. I've found some info on how to do it (cut & ground the yellowwire of the DRL module). That info is a few weeks old. Is it still the preferred method? Do I need todisconnect the battery before I start cutting wires? Thanks.

I'm just wondering why they put the sensor by the A pillar, where it's almost always in a shadow, instead of in the middle of the dash. I'm thinking about disabling them, but isnt it illegal?

There is also the option of disconnecting the light sensor on the dash. This will allow you to regain control of the headlights. See this thread:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1391

That procedure described in that thread will kill the automatic head lights. I want to kill both the automatic lights and the DRL system. So, I assume it's time to cut the yellow wire under the dash.

Yes--there are several ways of doing it but the most simplist and better way is the yellow wire vascetomeny---Ground the cut yellow wire out of the module and you will have NO day time running lights and you will have to turn you lights on manually by the lever . James

I cut and grounded the yellow wire this afternoon. Worked beautifully. It's a bit of a pain lying on your back and messing with wires in that cramped space, but all in all, not a difficult procedure at all.

Which end of the yellow wire must be grounded?
