Instrument Panel Backlight

Post by omat5e1 »

I searched the archives, but I didn't find anything terribly helpful. I have a 2003 Vibe, with the original instrument panel... which was nice at first, but the red backlight is really starting to get to me. I like everything else about the instrument panel, but I'd be the happiest Vibe owner in the world if I could change the backlight to blue. Is that possible? Has anyone done something similar?

Nope, no can do. You *can* get a 2004+ cluster with the white characters and have it sent off to have the odo reprogrammed to your current mileage and install that cluster....

the red lights are red LEDs soldered to a multilayer circuit board. It must be possible to get blue LEDs of a compatible type and get them soldered in as replacements, and get a new face plate to replace the red one, but I do not think anyone here has done that yet.
