That "expert" that reviewed it sucks and should be shot I swear they base all the reviews off the specs and not actually driving it. I drove the base...and bought one and thought it was zippy enough for passing on the highway. its a gas sipping I4, so you have to expect a I4 accel. and for him ranting about the GT engine not being used in this? what is up with that!? i do agree the AWD could use that vvtl engine. I only read car reviews from consumer reports, as they seem to be one of the better places to have car reviews. imooh yea i agree with bluecrush on this its a 9/10.
apparently the guy needs to cruise around with me at 65mph and see how well my 04 base Vibe (which could be better) really hauls when I drop into 4th and floor it.

The "Expert" lists one of the "Pros" of the 05's as "More features"... um... somebody needs to tell GM that because I got an 05 and there doesn't seem to be any extra features. In fact, a few "features" seem to have vanished... cross bars for the "included" roof rack (which is useless without the cross bars), the handy dandy auxiliary power socket in the center console (I just got a free hole instead), the larger and more functional center console arm rest (that you could actually rest your arm on!), there's probably more but I'm too distraught to continue..... But it's still an awesome car! I agree with 8.7 out of 10
fewer feature and more money :S WHYYY!!!!! well I hope GM doesnt wreck the vibe rep...sounds like they are going down the wrong path with the vibe. I know the new features are like leather, nav system, but the ones you need are gone

Quote »Either version of the Base engine is fine in town and decent during steady highway cruising. But both have lazy acceleration during passing maneuvers above 65 mph—even with just a driver aboard. That dude oughta drive mine if he thinks that car is sloooow. Dang! But anyway, even in fully non-dysfunctional form, I have to say I haven't found my base/auto to really be that much to write home about. I've driven cars with less power, and this is adequate for most circumstances but more pep wouldn't be a bad thing, IMHO. Quote »The GT has a high-revving, sophisticated hot rod version of the 1.8 four-cylinder that produces 170 horsepower. It would be even better suited to the all-wheel-drive Vibe.Hmm, I have to say I wouldn't want to drive such a beast! I think especially with all four wheels capable of receiving power, I would want something with much, much more torque and have that available at low revs. Maybe that's just me, I dunno - torque is what moves you, not horsepower, IIRC. Aren't the 1ZZ/2ZZ not really that far off as far as torque is concerned? Wondering why that guy thinks the horsepower increase, and having said horsepower only being available at super high revs and for brief periods of time, will benefit an AWD car... No offense to GT owners, your engine is fine, but it has its place and I just don't see that being in an all wheel drive vehicle. Unless you're only going to use it to run rallys or something. As a whole, the review was a joke. I have to give my car an "expert rating" of negative infinity out of 10 though. Your rating may vary for your rides, most will probably be better than what figure that "expert" came up for his review.

If anything, that should be in the PRO column.I'd be glad to show him how well this Base Vibe with an Injen CAI performs on the freeway; I have very little problem passing.

I'd have kept it for sure!
