K&N short ram intake - problem

I installed the K&N short ram intake on my wife's front wheel drive base model 2004 Vibe. The power gains are quite noticeable and the sound improvement is nice. We just did our first fill up and found a 4 mpg improvement. That was only a partial tank of gas (I'm not sure how full the tank was at the time of installation). I'm very pleased with the mod.But, after about 10-15 minute of driving, I've noticed a faint, very quick ticking sound. The sound is very reproduceable and seems to go away with any amount of throttle.... At idle, it comes right back... but again, only after 10 minutes or so of driving.Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? Many thanks!

sounds like your vsv. is the ticking only at Idle? everybody has complained about the noise it makes.not much you can do about it.

Yes... it's only at idle. If it's just a noise and nothing mechanically wrong, I have no problem with that. Excuse my ignorance.. what is a VSV?
