Picking up first Vibe

Post by chief5286 »

Tomorrow my wife and I are picking up our Vibe. It's the first new car for either of us, so we're pretty excited. I hope we enjoy the car as much over the long run as we did test driving it. Anyway, here's what we're getting: 2005 Base vibe5 Speed FWDMoon & ToonsPower PackWheels (kinda disappointing, had a sweet set of aftermarket wheels picked out) Color: Salsa 2 tone (I actually think it looks better than the painted bottom) Now, I just have to talk her into letting me make a few minor changes and we'll be all set

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new car for both of you! Stick around, there's lot's of info here. If you ever have any questions just let us know, someone will have an answer. And just because it came with wheels doesn't mean you can't still get some aftermarket's!

My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.

My New Salsa Vibe (Monotone) is also my first brand new car. So I share the sentiments. Though I don't think the two tone looks better. But to each his own. And yes get other wheels.I would've gotten 5 speed if it weren't for my bad left knee. I test drove a manual for about 5 minutes and it felt like an eternity. I was in so much pain. Not good.

Love the car so far. Waxed it and reduced the tire pressure as per the recomendation on here. Thanks for that (tires were around 50psi). I love the stereo system; it sounds great. I've already made a change to the car: I put a new shifter knob on it that matches the paint. The stock knob was not straight when it was tight. So, spent the 30 bucks and I'm glad I did. It looks and feels better. My only gripes are that the moonroof doesn't really circulate that much air, the car could use some more torque, and the clutch could give a little more feedback. All in all, I love my car

The moon roof tilted up works great for exhuasting hot air - max air + moon roof tilted will cool your ride fast. When it's slid open an air dam pops up to keep the air inside the car from buffeting... hold it down, it messes with your ears at high speed! It's a fun option, but you could always go with a soft top conversion

I promptly decided the two tone was the one for me.
