EXTREMELY Bummed....Scuffed up my Rim

Post by rebbierae »

So yesterday my friend and I are going to lunch, and I made a u-turn to pull up next to the curb--got a little too close and heard this awful noise--I scuffed the front passenger rim and tire. I of course think it looks horrible, but everyone else says it's not that bad. My boyfriend tells me that unless I want to spend a couple hundred bucks to get it fixed, I'm going to have to live with it but I don't WANT to live with it that way. I've been trying SO hard to take such good care of this car because I love it, and I'm just so incredibly pissed at myself for doing such a stupid thing. Wishing there was some miracle fix for munched up rims, so if anyone has any please let me know! Just had to vent.

I did the same thing last year in the snow. I was pulling into a gas station and the snow was built up to the point where I could not see the curb and I scraped the rim, I forgot about it for awhile now. Thanks for bringing it up.

Sorry Poopster. But this is cathartic for me--at least I know I'm not the only numb nuts to do this. I almost got sick to my stomach when I heard the awful scraping sound. My friend just laughed and didn't think it was a big deal, so I figured that crying would not be the best option, but I really felt like shedding some tears! My poor Stella had her first little boo-boo and it's all my fault!

Ebay! I've seen both the base 16" alloy, and the 17" upgrade/GT wheel on there.

Thanks Partsguy! My boyfriend suggested that too, but I told him I'd talk to my boys on genvibe and see what they said! I believe he rolled his eyes.

I scuffed mine on the curb in the driveway. Initially I felt like "Oh crap!" but now I had forgotten all about it and never even notice it anymore.

Maybe I just need to chill out for a few days and I will forget about it too. Thanks for 'listening'.

are any vibes running around with curb feelers? sorry about your incident. I curbed the whole passenger side-skirt on a parking lot island before. I guess I took the turn too soon.

Every single one of my alloys has been chewed up quite nicely... They're all in really rough shape. Even the cheap wheel covers I had on the steel wheels I have used in the winter are tore to shreds too. I suck at driving. (removed)!

I scraped the curb parking yesterday... hard. Not something I wanted to do with my two week old Vibe. Unfortunately I also took out the tire so I got to drop some money on a new one. A very bad way to start my vacation... one rim scuffed and a tire with only 400 miles on it ruined. The rim doesn't really look that bad but I'm still pretty bummed about it. I'm still thinking about grabbing one off eBay to put on later. I think I'll get a little more used to parking a wider car first... that curb is too sharp to scrape again. At least it wasn't my 18s though, I'm too lazy to put them on. I'm not sure if I want to at stock height...rubbing a curb happens... no matter how careful you try to be.
