Apparently there is no glove box light. So i am going to install one and am just curious if anyone has done this before and if so how they did it and pictures if available.
I shouldn't imagine that it would be too hard. With all the leds and such being run lately, a light with a switch shouldn't be too difficult. If you want it to turn on when you open it, that might be a little harder. I'm sure there'll be some inputs on this.

I plan on putting lights in the glove box and also in the small storage compartment on the driver's side. I'm going to wire them up to turn on when they open by mounting a rocker switch nearby so that when the door is opened, it flips the switch, and when closed, flips the switch again. I'll post pics when I get it done.
I've done it - no pics (sorry) - but it was no big deal. Found some LED accent lights, mounted them inside the glove box, and wired them to the wire that powers the accent lights for the cigar lighter. I added a micro switch to the door for the on/off action.Easy, quick, and relatively painless....

ok, let me see if i can pass teh wimperdink switch quiz...reed switch: magnetic SPST such that in the presence of the other side, turns off or onpin switch- the kind with the 'post' sticking out and when the door pushes it in when closed and turns out the light?did i win?i guess i would like the reed type and then i can hook it up to a white LED setup right inside.do you have one i could buy?Jeff
I've done it in both the Matrix and Corolla. All it took was a momentary switch (normally closed), a 4000mcd led, resistor, and about 24 inches of wire.I'll try to take pics later.
just a thought...LEDs last for tens of thousands of hours and are pretty cheap. why do you need a switch? why not have it connected to the dash light circuit so that it's on whenever the dash lights are on? it may even look interesting to have a red or blue or whatever glow surrounding the glove box door. reminds me of pulp fiction for some reason!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
I was going to do this but it got dropped...However I do have the lamp, socket and a hand made bracket ready to go when I do pick the project back up. I am using an old glove box switch and socket I picked up from a salvage yard many years ago; had it laying around in my parts dept!It has a door pin switch and there is a perfect spot on the top of the opening which meets the door so it will open and close or come on and off perfectly! No pics now but I can take a pick of what I do have already...
