Squeaking cross drilled/slotted rotors.

Post by myredrs »

I went to Midas and they said that they couldn't turn them. Any idea who can? A small shop? Commercail chain?I put new pads on when the rotors went on. It's only been 4 months.Thanks.

I have no idea why they say they can't turn them, but I'm wondering why you want to turn them after only 4 months?

Cross drilled and/or slotted rotors can't be turned, only replaced. If they arn't gouged up or warped it's probably the pads that are causing the noise.

The pads are new also. Hawk GPS, I think. I love them. The car stops great now. But sitting in traffic sucks. Loud squeeking noise. So do you think I need to replace the pads?

They do make some kind of lubricant to put on the BACK of the pads that is supposed to help squeaking. That might be worth a try. Basically I think it prevents squeaking medal to medal with the mount for the pads.
