Hi! I know there is something on here about how the CD button on the stock cd player says AUX. My boyfriend got me a portable DVD player which we wanted to somehow hook up to my car stereo. We go camping alot & thought it would be cool to have the surround sound for movies when it's raining. I know I can somehow rig the old outlet in the console for power, but I didn't think that work with the stereo speakers anyway
Get an AUX2CAR by Peripheral electronics if you have the 1CD.If you have the 6CD you're out of luck.Search on "AUX2CAR" for installation info postings.
2005 Platinum Base ManualSide & Curtain AirbagsABSPower PackageTinted Windows"Mods": 'old-style' center armrest, center +12v, wheelskins leather steering wheel, AC/Recirc blue backlight, beeps on keyless entry, dome light switch, AC insulation, PCD10 10-disc CD/MP3 changer, AAI-GM12 AUX audio input, K&N filter, "shark fin" antenna.
I have the single CD w/ M&T package. I don't have XM or the navigation system. I have read on the aux2 sight that you will lose function of your cd player if you connect the adapter. I would like to mainly use my dash CD player & occasionally hook up a portable DVD player or MP3 player. I don't want to lose the CD or radio... other than that, the Aux2 thing sounds pretty easy to install, i just don't want to really mess with wiring b/c my car is s lease.
the product linked to below will let you do what you're talking about with the factory stereo, without losing any of the functionality. they're not too difficult to install, as the head unit in the vibe is quite easy to remove, however i have read mixed reviews of this particular version of the product. i've installed the honda adapter in a few different civics for folks to use with their ipods, and none of them have had any complaints. http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundauxgm.html

You will NOT lose functionality of the Single-CD in your head unit. (If you had a remote 6CD changer, it would not work with that). The SoundAUXGM is the same way. I have the AUX2CAR, and the CD/AUX button switches between the internal CD and the audio source I have connected through the AUX2CAR.Once again, you'll still be able to use the CD player.

As said, you won't get 'surround sound' out of an aux connection, especially not on the stock stereo. If you wanted to get an in-dash dvd screen, then you probably could..But yes, either the aux2car, or an fm modulator would do it.

Can anyone tell me which model of the Auxcar2 to buy? Thanks! I have a 2003 Vibe w/moons & tunes. I have a feeling I may be out of luck. The FM modulator for my XM really sucks.
Discount Car Stereo has an Aux-in adaptor that they believe will work on the 2005 in-dash cd changer stereo. It is the GM12-AUXv2.It says the requirements are either an XM capable system or one with the CD/Aux button. We all know that whether that button was there or not on the older models the adaptors at that time did not work but this was is stated as working with 05 vehicles.I am going to pull the head unit tonight and verify there is a proper connector to attach to and if there is I will order this for my 05 Vibe and see what happens. If you are interested in looking at it the link is:http://www.discountcarstereo.c...D=446In an email to LogJamElectronics I was told that they did not have an adaptor that would work with the in-dash changer in the 2005 Vibe. But they DO list a device that works in the 05 Matrixhttp://store.yahoo.com/logjam/pietoy03pcson.htmlThe one listed for the Matrix is a convertor so that you can use a Sony external changer with the factory head unit. It specifically states that it DOES work with the in-dash 6 CD system. To use it as an aux-in you just plug your audio into the external inputs without having to connect a Sony changer. Now, the question is: Is the in-dash 6 disc system in the 05 Matrix the same model as in the 05 Vibe? If so then there must be a working external changer connector on that system or the above mentioned Sony adaptor would not work.If the systems ARE the same then the Sony adaptor will work in both and that means a good likelihood that the first mentioned system above will work also. Will let you know how my own turns out.
LeweyLizard, the device listed above should work for your car.Do you have a single CD stereo or 6 disc in-dash player, or an external 6 disc changer? As far as I can tell from reading these forums and the product info, if you have an 03-04 with an in-dash 6 disc, you are out of luck for an aux-in adaptor. If you have an external changer you can use the adaptor but you have to disconnect your changer. If just the single CD stereo then the adaptor will work. There are a few model adaptors that will work with the single CD stereo you will just have to look through them. LogJamElectronics and DiscountStereo both sell adaptors.

I have the single cd player. Thanks for the info! I was worried because i saw that you needed the "band" button. I have the "am/fm" button and a "cd/aux" button. It seems to me that it should work. I'll check those sites out.

(I believe this is true of 2003's).All is not lost, however - you can pick one with BAND up on Ebay for about $35.
