Last night I had a dream about a GTO. It made me really want one badly. I suppose it comes from my dissatisfaction with my vibe lately. I want something with more power but i suppose it is all just a dream I doubt i could afford the payments. What does everyone else dream about?

I share the dream of a GTO! In about three years I am going to try and get one. Between now and then I am saving $50 a week to the cause. That wiil be about $7500 down. I can't wait!
Not to rain on your parade - You can do what you want of course - this is just my opinion - If I saved $50 a week for three years, I be danged if I'd go spend it on a CAR!

They have one in the atrium at work. nice looking. the rear speakers are HUGE!! 200 watts 10 speakers.all motor under the hood.If i had the cash I think i'd pick one up.UPDATE:man, I just got a look at the Dodge Charger SRT8 I can change my mind right? http://www.dodge.com/charger/h...tion=the music isn't to bad either.
Everybody has their dreams. I like cars but hate payments. The only way to lower them is to put down a payment of reasonable size. Thus the saving. After all $50 a week is very little money as it goes, but $7500 is alot to come with at the drop of the hat. If you think that is bad you should see what I am saving for our next house. Right about the same time I plan on getting the GTO I should be able to leverage about $25K for a downpayment. That goes beyond the profit from the sale of my current house.

Sorry, I just had rub it in a little. In order to pay less than $200 a month, you must have had a good trade in or put some cash down. Even if you bought it used, a $30,000 car that is a year old is still going to sell for over $20,000. All I am trying to do is drop any payments I have to a low enough level that I don't have any problem making them. If I need to miss a week of saving ahead, no harm done. If I miss a car payment because my water heater needed replaced, then my credit rating takes a hit.

I would never take on car payments that I couldn't comfortably afford either. You're going about it the smart way and I'm all about that. I got one heck of a deal and I just like to tease people sometimes. Honestly, I wouldn't be driving one now if I hadn't been able to get the deal I did.In December '04, GM offered a $5000 rebate on '04 GTO's. They also gave GM cardholders an extra $3000 bonus plus they bumped my earnings up to $750. I also got to use my brother's employee discount. I saved nearly $12,000 off MSRP with no money down and no trade in. My lease works out to $145 a month, plus $100 a month for insurance since it's a "pleasure" car. I really hope you guys can get a GTO in the future because it's just an amazing car.
