Sounds shady to me. If you have ever seen the show Mythbusters they did a show on this very thing. They make those portable toilets with a lot of ventilation trying to avoid just such an occurrence. Mythbusters showed that it was possible for this to happen, but it was highly unlikely. An easy way to make sure it that it never does is to not smoke in an enclosed space where gas could accumulate. Jeez can't some people go without a cancer stick for 5 freaking minutes.
