I have had my vibe for a little over a month. I have noticed a thump sound from the hatch, not the glass but the whole door. The sound reminded me of a door that hadn't been closed properly. To test my theory I closed the hatch door on a leather glove, it made it harder to close but it stopped the thump sound. There is no warning light coming on to show an open door so I assume it is too loose.I will get the dealer to tighten it up when I take it in for it's first oil change.Has anyone else had to have the mechanism tightened?
Base 2 tone Salsa, auto, power pack Mississauga, Ontario, Canada I'd rather be sailing but the Vibe makes me a happy landlubber.
Most of people who were complaining about the hatch was not complaining about a loose hatch, but a too tight one....See that forum for more details: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=914If they can ajust it too tight, I assume they can adjust it too loose either
Almost certainly a poor 'striker' adjust in the rear hatch. Very easily repaired. The 'striker' is what the hatch door latches onto to keep it closed. Simply moving the striker will eliminate this problem. Hard to know which way to move the striker without seeing it. The dealer should be able to adjust this very quickly and easily.Clearly, NUMMI is so busy, they don't have time to 'finesse' each vehicle perfectly to eliminate all shakes and rattles. If this is the only problem you have with the car, you're doing very well indeed. I'm very happy to be able to read all the little 'aches and pains' that VIBE owners have with their vehicles. IF I ever get mine, I'll know excactly what to look for.
