new here

Post by intertan »

So I need to replace my current car that has 300,000+ km on it.I am looking at a pontiac vibe or the matrix and was wondering if there is one better than the other. Now I know they are almost identical but have herd of some rust problems(vibe) and the matrix has traction control. Now working at GM I can get a good deal on a vibe but since this will probally be my last car before they replace gas I want it to last a long long time. oh and it probaly will be the gt version.

Welcome! Both cars are the same but you will probably spend a couple thousand less on the Vibe than the Matrix just because it doesn't say Toyota on it, and you won't be dissapointed with the GT either

The GT and the XRS are effectively the same, but there are some differences.THe guts are the same, the skin is different, the vibe is made in california, the matrix is made in canada. I think the design of the rear windows in the matrix provides slightly better visibility out the back and the back corners. hasn't been an issue for me but it is a difference. before 2005, both used the same radios, in 2005 matrix uses toyota radios, which I heard somewhere do not include the cool RDS feature that the GM radios have, but if you're likely to replace stock stereo anyway, that may not be important.I thought the 05 vibes also had a traction control option.A couple of people had some rust on under the hatch glass weatherstrip, but it was only a few, no rust on mine, but maybe up there it is more of a problem, what had you heard about a Vibe rust problem? The appearance difference between Vibe and matrix is a personal preference, I still like the vibe better than the Matrix, oviously other people prefer the matrix over the vibe, but get the one that you like th elook of better, because it sounds like you plan to look at it for a long long time. Toyotas tend to have better resale value because of the name on the fender, but that may not be an issue for you. Since you work at GM, would buying a GM vehicle show the boss you are committed and earn you a promotion?

Welcome to GVC and if I had it to do over again I would still go with the vibe even though no one makes the euro tail lights yet...

yep definetly gona get a gt loaded one. say that 115v outlet does that come with the gt version?all they got now is a stock model 2003. looking for a 04-05 since they only make manuals I do beleave it shouldn't be much of a problem. Coulor isn't a big issue cause I may get a custom paint job if I feal like is anything is better than grey rust.

i went with the vibe after having driven both. traction control wasn't a huge issue for me (i live in central texas), but it is an available option. it's actually the only option (other than the "premium" factory stereos) i didn't get on mine. after a couple of months in the vibe, i have *zero* regrets.
