The other day I went to the local service station to get my state inspection sticker on my new Vibe. This station is run by a family that originally came from another country and they speak with broken English. When I pulled in to get my sticker the first guy took a walk around the car and asked my what kind of a car was a Vibbey (as in Libbey). Well it was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud!Within a few minutes, all the brothers, brothers-in laws, etc. were out pouring all over the car, and although I had told them the car was a Vibe, they kept yelling Vibbey to each other. They were completely blown away by the 115V AC outlet. They kept jumping in the passenger compartment to play with it. I was afraid they were going to break the darn thing. When I got home and told the story to my wife, she laughed and then said, that's the name for your car. So now when we go out, it's do we take the wife's Impala or the Vibbey!
In Massachusetts all cars, even if they are brand new are required to display a state insection sticker, which signfies that the station has checked that your lights, horn, directionals, etc all work. Seems kind of silly on a brand new car, but it's another way for Taxachusetts to get 29 bucks out of us poor citizens!
Here in Quebec we don't have any inspection at all.The only time a non-commercial vehicule is being inspected, it is it went unplated for more then a year. If the car keep platted every years, no inspection, even if you sell it to someone else.
Or if your call got destroyed in an accident and you rebuilt it.If the car is a SAV (seriously accidented vehicule, VGA in french) and you rebuilt it, you need to have it inspected.
If I'm right, in Canada, some provinces need to have this inspection sticker also. I saw many cars (sometimes new cars) from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia who have these stickers...
