I signed up a couple of days ago and been reading all the (mostly) nice things about the Vibe. However, a couple of quality concerns are making me a bit reluctant to get one. The first is the large amount of complaints regarding the paint quality on the cars and second the dashboard rattling noises.I haven't had the time to sort through all the postings and people don't always specify what year/model they drive. So, my question is:Has the paint issue been resolved for 2005? It seems that after 2 years of complaints GM would have figured something out.Is there a particular color that's not as bad as the others? Based on a poll in another post, it seems like all colors were affected. What about the rattling? Thanks for the input.

The 2005 rocker panels seem to chip especially easy.Rattling: No dash rattlings noticed here after 8mos, or in another 05 in the family.

I have 48,000 miles on mine, and I have to say, mine is a pretty solid car, I don't really have any noticeable rattles. My friend has an 04 Jetta GLI with only 10,000 miles and his car has WAY more rattles than mine does. And I haven't had any problems with the paint on mine, mine seems to be pretty resilient to chips.
Can't hear the rattles over the music. Actually drove with the radio off for a bit today and still didn't hear any rattles. Haven't noticed any major paint issues. No paint thus far has been able to stand up to the barrage of stone on I75, so a front end full of chips is normal to me. I have had mine since November and have about 18k on it, thus far the best car I have had in a while.
12k miles on our 05 and no paint chips or rattles in the dash to speak of. There is a rattle in the hatch somewhere when we really turn the bass up on the sub, but 99% of the time it's not noticable. There was also a rattle/buzz in the drivers door that is hit or miss.
Do what I did... Run a front set or all four mud flaps. Buy a bottle of touch up paint. My car has chips but it is driven on the highway 3 days a week. Otherwise the front end on these cars are pretty much flat and you will get chips regardless on the front fascia. My car does not have too many chips and the flaps have cut down considerably on the sides. If you get a chip you must touch it up, otherwise some can spread to rust.
Almost 6000 miles on mine, mainly interstate with a heavy foot....No paint problems, no rattles. Don't know if it makes a difference with the leather interrior though.I will be investing in mud flaps on front and rear. Don't know how much longer the paint will last in those areas. It gets pretty dirty.
