First of all, I am asking for SERIOUS suggestions.I am getting married in Sept. and the future Mrs. Poopypants and I have no clue what songs to use for father/daughter and mother/son dances. Please help. We have all the other songs picked out, but are stumped on these ones. I don't want to use any country songs, and if anyone suggests Butterfly Kisses I may just throw up right here.

Hmm...that is a tough one...not many songs (other than Butterfly Kisses...(removed)) that apply to either one of those particular relationships...Are there any songs that have special meaning to either of you or that make you think of said person you're going to be dancing with? That would be the first thing I would look for.I hear lots of songs that would make good couples songs on things like Sirius Love but hmm...not much for mother/son or father/daughter stuff at all, in any genre, really. The only particular song that's coming to mind is "Music of my Heart" by *NSYNC and Gloria Estefan. I'll keep thinking about it though while I'm furthering my Sirius addiction, and if I come up with anything, I'll post it.

Don't know what to offer for mother/son. could depend a lot on the personalities/ages of the people involved. I imagine there are lots of lists out there on the net.
will you be having both dances at the same time? that's what i did for BOTH of my weddings... i had a little experience to help plan the second. lol. i will admit, i played "because you loved me" by celine dion for BOTH weddings. i just think it's the best fitting when it comes to supportive parents. as for "butterfly kisses," i think it's overly sappy and quite annoying (plus extremely LONG). keep in mind you have to dance to the song for the entire duration.
My wife had a song played that meant a lot to her and her dad, I forget which one it was.We danced to a U2 song... Bono and Dale Earnhardt were invited. Bono never responded, Dale did and could not make it. Seriously he did respond back; more like his "camp" did for him...On a side note for songs played, we did not play the Chicken Dance, Macarena, or the Steve Wonder song everyone does that dumb dance to.Told the DJ he would be shot on site if he played any of those.
I told the DJ the same thing. No Electric Slide, Macarena, stupid clap-you-hands-stomp-eighty-two-times-with-your-left-foot, or any other song that middle aged ladies all kick their shoes off and go running in herds to the dance floor for. But I do admit that we did say OK to the chicken dance (it's a classic) we also gave the OK to the Hokey Pokey.

we always play the electric slide... some of my friends have funny memories of it growing up. also, i had them play some "old school" songs that everyone could enjoy, not my usual "screw the world" rock music like Korn or Limp Bizkit. plus, my mom was there, so i had to keep it tame. lol. we did get "ice ice baby" in there as well as "baby got back" just for fun. the chicken dance is definitely a classic, so you have to do that one. the hokey pokey is fun for the kiddies, that way everyone is happy. also, we danced to "power of love" by celine dion (ya, i know we had a couple of her songs, but hey... i admit i was a HUGE fan in hs and college pre-diva days) and "disappear" by hoobastank.
