DETROIT – Chevrolet has announced pricing for the 2006 Chevy HHR, starting at $15,990.HHR will be offered in three different models. The MSRP for the LS will be $15,990. The MSRP for the HHR 1LT will be $16,990. Pricing for the 2LT will be $18,790. Pricing includes destination and freight charges.“We believe this competitive pricing will encourage consumers to get to know our all-new, innovative Chevy HHR when it hits the market later this year,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager.HHR is designed for consumers who need the storage of a utility, the ride comfort of a car, and styling that lets them stand out from the crowd. The vehicle offers a complete fold-flat interior, from the front passenger area to the liftgate – large enough to fit an 8’ extension ladder.HHR offers several other convenient storage areas including an auxiliary glove box, two large storage bins behind the rear seat, and holders for plastic bags on the rear compartment bin.In addition to all the great utility, HHR is offered in vibrant exterior colors including Daytona Blue Metallic, Sunburst Orange II Metallic, Sport Red, Silverstone Metallic and a vehicle exclusive Majestic Amethyst Metallic.Standard features on the LS and LT models include air conditioning, power windows, door locks and outside mirrors, six-speaker CD stereo with auxiliary input jack for iPods or other devices, and remote keyless entry. Additional features include a driver information center and driver and front passenger frontal air bags. Available options include remote start (standard with an automatic transmission), an upgraded audio system, sunroof with express open and close, and 16” and 17” wheel options. Head curtain side air bags for front- and rear-seat outboard passengers are also optional.The 1LT model also includes a standard MP3 player, eight-way power seat including power lumbar, a satin exterior finish and cast aluminum wheels. Other available features include a bright chrome exterior trim and a bright exhaust tip, as well as ABS and traction control (traction control only available with automatic transmission).HHR 2LT standard features include ABS, fog lamps, bright exhaust tip, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, a 260-watt Pioneer sound system with subwoofer, FE3 sport suspension and a bright chrome exterior trim. Seventeen-inch painted aluminum wheels are standard, with optional high polished forged aluminum 17” wheels. Two-level heated leather seats also are available on both LT packages.HHR production begins in the second quarter in Ramos , Mexico . Vehicles will be in dealerships by late summer. I saw them at the auto show. Stock they are fugly. Lowered they are hot (there is a picture of the west coast customs lowered one on the website).This will probably give the Vibe a run for its money.

Some have said a rival for the PT Cruiser, we will see. It does have a lot of features like the PT and Vibe for that matter. PT will be changed up in a year or so.

At first, I didn't really know what to think about these things. PT-ish? Yeah, a bit - and probably a few years too late. I saw one of these up (sorta) close at the NY auto show, it was kinda neat. Then, the Mrs. and I spot one on the lot so we decided to take a look.Damn! It would appear that a new opponent has entered the ring for the "cheap car with lots of crap on it that will replace CP's Vibe" fight. I'm impressed with this vehicle. Some people say the styling is fugly, I think it's pretty neat. I don't like retro, yet somehow I'm not put off by the retro look of this thing. Strange. The size is good too, not that big of a difference when compared to the Vibe's dimensions. But the most impressive part has to be the price tag. I couldn't believe the amount of goodies this thing had on it - GM has done a great disservice to the Vibe with the pricing scheme on this car. For a few bucks more than a base Vibe with stuff such as power package, moon & tunes/etc you'll get so many additional goodies.. ABS, 17" wheels, heated leather seats, auto dimming mirror w/ compass, power driver's seat, steering wheel radio controls, driver info center (trip computer/etc,) remote start, 7-speaker stereo with MP3 playback and aux input jack! Even the HO 2.4 engine to boot... Just a few bucks under $21K. Not bad at all. Granted the Vibe does have the moonroof... lol! That's a lot of car for the money, IMHO. I'm eager to give these things a closer look.

Um, it has four doors... The government must classify it as a truck though as it did with the PT, since it's got privacy glass that you can't get with a wagon.

I got the coincidence to see one of these on the road on the way in to the office this morning. Sweet looking ride, most definitely. I don't know that the color did the car any justice (it was beige), but the lines are pretty sweet. For the money, this thing sounds like it can't be beat. But I'll have to drive one before I can really make that call

my girlfriend just had one as a rental car in Kansas City last week, and she said she liked the way it drived, but the blind spots were bigger then they were in her car.

this thing is a CUV the same as a vibe...it is built on a car platform..(cobalt)..so it is a CROSSOVER UTILITY VEHICLE.and i want one.lol.this is the firts car that i would trade the vibe in to get..just the 2.4 180hp is so worth it.

I still don't like it. To me it still looks like a mini van with fender flares. I saw one at the dealership in town. It might grow on me, but right now I don't like it.I've never like the PT Cruisers and it just looks to much like one. It isn't near as tall as I thought it would be though. I'll take my vibe over it, but would purchase one of these before a mini-van though.

Yeah, I agree. The one I saw was a nice blue with some large 5 spoke wheels, probably 17s, maybe 18s. I don't know what they offer. Defnitely looks good though. Motortrend had a comparison of it to the recently updated PT Cruiser. I haven't read the article yet though.

I just read that you (allegedly) can get employee pricing on these things. This isn't a participating vehicle in the GM employee pricing for everyone deal, but it looks like you may be able to get the GM in the driveway program goin' with these things. For $20,700 you can get a 2LT with the stuff I posted above plus sunroof, rear spoiler, bumper protector, roof rack, and a floor mat upgrade (you get the floor mats standard plus a cargo area mat, but these are nicer or something.) (removed)!I was pretty stoked about that until I read that the HHR's bigger engine is thirsty for 91 octane. So before anyone asks, YES YOU MUST RUN PREMIMUM IN YOUR VIBE GT AND HHR! (removed)! The base engine runs on 87, but I'm thinking with the added weight of the HHR couple with the fact that it only has somewhere around 15 more HP than a base (03-05) Vibe, I'm afraid it wouldn't be able to move itself out of its own way. I don't need so much power that it pins you back in the seat, but I would like something with slightly more oomph than the Vibe - so this may not be a good choice. So I scratch the HHR off my list... Which that may be a good thing, I'm craving an anonymous vehicle. I can only imagine how irritated I would be with the HHR and the response/questions/etc from people I see out and about - no dobut it would draw a lot of attention. (i'll leave that up to you if it's good or bad attention. (removed)!) Leave me alone already, I don't want to talk to you, I ain't no people person!

I see on the window sticker that Colonel Panic posted it has a 2.4 DOHC W/VVT engine is this a Toyota engine or something GM got from Toyota

Yep, the base is the 2.2 Ecotec without variable valve timing. Standard in the 2LT and optional in everything else is the 2.4 Ecotec, which does have variable valve timing. And a pretty high compression ratio, hence the need for 91 octane.Not a Toyota part in sight, hence the reason I actually considered this vehicle.

they had one at the local fair so I took a walk around it. Looks nicer then the PT bruiser and its actually a little bigger to. Not bad IMO.

they have a fully loaded LT2 at my chevy dealership here....it has everything.....29,290$$$CDN.....myself i would not pay that much even if i had that much.lol.....i would just get a slightly equipped one....i really love it in the black....i really do like this car/truck/wagon/suv/van????i would trade the vibe in if i got a good deal....and i really like the 2.4 vvti engine with 172 hp....zoom zoom
