so a job opening has come up for southern indiana. I dunno if i should apply. Anyone live there or have some input about living there?

Where did the job opportunity present itself? Let me know and maybe I can be of some assistance. I've spent plenty of time all over the southern part of the state, so chances are I may have some good input for you. It's relatively cheap to live around here, not much to do, but that means it's kinda quiet. I live in the booming metropolis of New Albany, which is across the bridge from Louisville, KY...Let me know some details and I'll do my best to dig up some dirt for ya.

its a sales rep job at the company i currently work for you could pretty much live wherever you want they suggest bloomington. there are stores in vincennes, spences, new albany, st meinrad, holland, sullivan, rockport, salem, and greensburg. so pretty much whereever in that zone

New Albany would probably be the largest area - the town itself isn't big, but you have plenty around (and with Louisville across the river, even more stuff over there.) Bloomington is quite a nice town too, haven't spent much time there but from what I've seen, it's very nice. St. Meinrad, Holland, Rockport - I've been to those, blink once and you'll miss it. Very rural area. Same goes for Salem, that's up the road from me - not much going on up there (but Friday night, the square is packed with who knows how many people cruising.) lol!Haven't been to the other areas you mentioned. All in all, I say Bloomington and New Albany would be the better pics if you're doing something where you need the greatest amount of customers around.

it's farm equipment sales(new holland) . travel is the name of the game so i would suppose being centrally located would be a good thing

Bloomington Indiana is the main campus of Indiana University, so there is a large somewhat 'seasonal' college population (~45,000). Here are few googled links to the area:http://www.iub.edu/http://www.bloomingt ... om/College towns have a culture all their own. If you're young, single, and looking, Bloomington might be an interesting place to live. Bloomington is right by Indiana 37 and (probably) close to the future I-69 extension through southern Indiana which will connect eventually Evansville with Indianapolis. It's an hour south of Indianapolis.Since you mention ag equipment, IU is not a land-grant college, so they don't have an ag program. (Purdue University is the land-grant college, located ~100 miles north in West Lafayette, IN)I have two degrees from IU-B in the late 1970's and early 1980's. The campus is beautiful. Back then, the town folks who weren't employed by the university worked in some large manufacturing plants west of town. Several of those plants are now closed.
