CAI installed (what a pain)

Post by iinan »

I saw the ups truck round the corner !!I ran to meet the ups guy !!I got my big checkered box from Cosmoracing !!I drove (rather quickly) to my local autoshop to have it installed !!The fun ended there...For starters my tube had/has scratches all over itand the Cosmoracing instructions are a JOKE. It took Gary (mechanic) over 3 hours to get it installed, with off and on help from another mechanic. They had to reshape the CAI several times to get it to fit, while at the same time try to understand the instructions. I guess us Washington residents dont read Canadian very well. (joke) . The owner finally sat me down on the shop pc and had me find some better instructions. The ones posted by lancer are much better and have pictures ! They finally got the car back together and we started it up and let it idle for 10 min and it ran AWESOME. I must admit there is a bigger performance increase than what I thought there would be. I am extremely happy with the end result, but if you go Cosmoracing, dont count on the in box instructions to do you much good. You can check out my pics, on car domain..

ya I know. when I install mine, I used instructions for an Injen CAI with a step by step instruction with pictures that someone posted here somewhen... I can find the link if you want (kind of too late doh) It took me 90 minutes to install it, 60 min to uninstall it in october and 60 minutes to put it back few weeks ago.

I wouldn't trust Gary the Mechanic!!! It only took me an hour to install mine and the Injen instructions stink too.Good to see that you are a happy CAI owner though.

Just for archive purposes here. The TRD fit well on my vibe, install was easy. about an hour, it pushed up against my fog lamp a bit, but, otherwise a perfect fit, even with the supercharger.PS, at least twice as much as the Cosmo kit, so it all depends on your budget.

I will have to agree with you guys, when he was pounding a flat spot into my round tube to get it to fit, I was thinking --what have I gotten myself into--.The major issue it seemed was that emissions air pump that had to be moved from just infront and a bit above the front tire, and then remounted next to the engine. I may run it by another mechanic and have it double checked. But enough said, its time to enjoy the extra zip my vibe has now.
