my friend has an 85 camaro (2.8L) and we are trying to find an aftermarket intake system, does anyone know whhere we might fight one that dual filter design they use stock is a poor design. any ideas on how to get more air would be appreciated. genvibers have never let me down before thanx yall
Check out this Fiero site: http://www.fiero.nl/cgi-bin/fi...nt=80 The 2.8 L. was their biggest engine, rather than the smallest as in the Camaro, and they mess around with it a ton.

A bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory.
May have to make your own. Go to a salvage yard for ideas or parts and or go get PVC and the rubber PVC unions with clamps in the plumbing section at the local Home Improvement store. You can buy 3 or 4 inch diameter filters from just about any parts store to use. Since the PVC is smoth on the inside it works great, the 90 and 45 degree elbows make things easy too.If you get the same salvage yard set up, you can possibly cut things out and or drill holes then use a standard drop in K&N filter. Some Vette guys I know used the stock air box, drilled holes in it, dropped in a K&N and saw huge gains. Think about it long enough and you can do it...
Could be worse, I knew a guy in college with a 4 cylinder Camaro, 1980's gen 3! The engine threw a rod and I bought the stereo/cassette off of him for my 1987 Cavalier.
we made an intake for it out of pvc and rubber clamps but we are thinking of getting an exhaust shop to bend us a pipe for it any other bolt ons for the 2,8l
If you have not done so already start with the basics too...Clean the throttle body. You can buy the cleaner at most auto stores, different then carb cleaner. You do not have to take the throttle body off necessarily, it would be best but if you cannot, spray to down the TB and wipe away the grime. Take off the idle air control if it has one, clean it too.Check all the vacuum lines, replace them if necessary.Run a bottle or two of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner in it. This stuff works and GM recommends it as an equivalent. Change the fuel filter.Check the plugs & wires. Upgrade to Platinium if needed. Change out the diff fluid.Change the trans fluid if an auto. You can also have a trans shop or a good mechanic adjust the line pressures so it will get more firmer shifts. If it can be done it is a safe thing and will not blow up the trans. Change the PCV.Change the vapor canister filter. One of the most forgotten filters. My 1987 Cavalier and parents 1988 Corsica had them I assume this car will too.Change out the rad fluid and T-stat.Most of these things will not show you a huge gain but if they have not been done, performance has decreased over the years and doing them now will restore it to like new. Cleaning the throttle body is a good one and fuel filter, he should notice better throttle response doing those. Plus, a well maintained car can take a beating better! May have to do like the guys in the 1950's did and make your own parts.
