Post by GoLowDrew »

In one year, we are almost at 36K. The car never visited a dealer (all maintance done by outside shops). Any service bulletins issued for 04 Vibe that we need them to take a look at?Thanks
2004 Vibe, Auto Trans. Built Sept 2003. Date in service May 2004. Sold May 2006.

According to information posted in a past thread by scherry2, the TSBs are not tied to the warranty and can be performed if the problem presents itself even after the warranty expires.

Hmm...now that I don't know. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us; I'm curious too, since the whole reason it came up the first time is because I know I probably won't be able to achieve sufficient rear cladding damage on my '03 for rocker panel replacement before the factory warranty runs out in October.

A TSB is just a memo from corporate to the dealer service departments to provide information on correction for a problem. has nothing to do with warranty, and is not a recall. The 2003 cladding sandblasting TSB is a good example. They will not replace your cladding if your car does not have the problem. If you have the problem and are under warranty, they can fix it at no cost to you. If you have the problem and are no longer in warranty, they can fix it for you, but you pay. (You might be able to get them to cover it out of some goodwill effort from a nice service manager, but given GM's latest profit reports, that goodwill is probably giong to become increasingly rare.) I think of a TSB as just a service tip, sort of like an amendment to the service manual, and doesn't require the dealer to take any action on your car. If they do take action on the car, the TSB may provide them with info on how to do it right or more efficiently.

I wonder if they would fall under the extended warranty, then...which was actually my original question in the other thread. Heh.Anybody know?

Depends on your extended warranty...they make the call...if the condition is occuring and there is a tsb on the issue they can either cover it or not...it also depends on the type of coverage you purchased. For the most part extended warranty policies do not cover trim items inside the car unless you have a GMPP major guard, it's more extensive on what it covers.

Well, as my primary warranty ran out, and I didn't get my cladding replaced.. I might give the extended warranty thing a shot... Or, I could just strip down the gray trim and have it chromed! :D(heh, yeahright!)

Walking in with a TSB printout and demanding the repair be done will result in you leaving without it done until said problem occures.
